Wow. Just wow. This is such a beautiful, thought provoking and emotionally stirring story. It is a poignant reminder of how delicate and susceptible some of us are, when it comes to that thing we call love. It can make us blind, naive and can even stir the strongest tensions within the heart, making it even difficult to distinguish the illusion and reality sometimes. Before The Dawn is one of those films that leaves a mark on you and stays there long after watching it.
A recently divorced woman with high hopes moves away from home to escape her past and ends up teaching at a Catholic High School, where she takes an interest in wanting to help one of her students (Jason), who is a troubled teen on the brink of dropping out and following in the footsteps of his older brother who is in jail. The teacher (Ms. Kendy) agrees to help him by tutoring him after school but things start to change when she finds herself falling for his youthful charm, which later turns into an intense feeling of excitement and happiness when they both end up sparking the fire. But in the end, is love really worth it?
Everything in this movie was perfect. The writing was outstanding, the on screen chemistry by both Alana de Freitas and Jared Scott was superb. The Cinematography was also great. It all flowed so well. It was truly a delightful watch and I will definitely be watching it again. It left a mark.
I HIGHLY recommend this wonderfully done film. An obligated must see.

What an awe inspiring story! This film has so much heart and faith to it. The entire struggle that these kids go through and the pressure that is put on their shoulders for them to be the best at their sport is portrayed realistically well here. There were many scenes that made me tear (from allergies of course...) Also, I have to say that Rockey Black did a superb job playing as the coach along with the cast of players. The female writer/director Janaya Black is just plain brilliant. The best part of this film that I enjoyed the most, is when God/Jesus is introduced during the height of conflict. For me, it was just pure icing on the cake. Very well done. RECOMMEND. *****
A Film that is so genius and so sexy, it will have you sweating from how how hot it is! The overall structure of the story is very compelling, drawing you in more and more, every second, scene by scene, and the camera work? Beyond brilliant. We read online that the cinematographer made his own DIY camera rig for this Film with the help of his Father which is very impressive. It's so hard to believe that the rig he constructed on a lo-no budget produced such amazing visuals that the entire sequence of images on screen leave you in a state of pure bliss the entire time. Singapore Sling is a must see Film, and I hope that it gets the attention it deserves. Truly a cinematic masterpiece to add to the DVD collection for sure. Bravo and bravo!
