Satashi Kon is a master at tricking the audience. And he does so from the very beginning of the film. In this short film, the crew of a small space ship are checking on an SOS from a mysterious source in deep space. The aesthetics of the world are sci-fi futuristic to this point. Upon entering the space ship, the movie becomes a completely different film. Satoshi kons editing and flawless art, blend two different worlds together perfectly.
The reveal of the inside of the ship, is one of the most mind bending scenes I have ever seen. I don't want to spoil anything past this point, because I can say going in blind to this movie was one of the best experiences I have had.
