Beautiful cinematography is the best I can give this movie. The acting was decent enough, but the script was so lacking that there were times I laughed even though I know it was a Serious Film.
It is an important story to tell, and it should have been an emotional wallop, but there just wasn't any. I don't know how much was left on the editing floor, but there were bits of this movie that didn't click because it was trying to say A LOT.
I found myself fast-forwarding quite a bit, which seems ludicrous even to me after my previous sentence, because while the movie asked the audience to take in all the different action sequences, it gave no hint as to how long the time period was. Where there should have been more character development, there were long shots of scenery, that were beautiful, but added zero to the story.
This could have been so much better.

I hope these actors got paid a bunch for agreeing to this mess. One could see the reason why Ed was being stalked and set up from the beginning, absolutely predictable in every way. I hate not finishing a book or show, so I muddled through by fast-forwarding to the key points to see if I was wrong. The only thing I was wrong about was how laughable the ending was.
I am from the US and I figured out how none of the accents matched, and was happy to see I was not wrong. Many have said the acting was terrible, but I am putting that down to bad directing. The guy who played Ryan didn't come off wooden to me, just that he had been told to act like a stereotypical psychopath. Which, if, doing a mystery seems an odd bit of direction.
