  • Solid 8 for a finding yourself good flick!

I gotta tell ya I was quite surprised. I had not seen this movie when it came out and I only recently came across it. And boy am I glad I did! Really what's better than a movie with a wonderful script that throws in humor and sarcasm in just the right spots. It really made me harken back to a simpler time when summers were better and filled with great times, great friends but also heartbreak. Nick Robinson is wonderful. I forgot he was acting! Gabriel Basso and Moises Arias were equally outstanding. How can anyone be disappointed when Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally are in it. Erin Moriarity was breaking hearts all over the place as she was perfectly cast. The writer Chris Galletta and the director Jordan Vogt-Robert worked extremely well together to pull this whole thing into a surprise hit!!! It's a solid 8 and if you didn't like it maybe you should realize it wasn't the movie, it's probably you.

  • Typical Hollywood Junk

I'll start with the good stuff but there won't be much. Bill Murray is great in anything he's in.

Naomi Watts is great in anything she's in.

Direction is adequate. Filming is nice. Good shots of NYC. I like dogs!

    Let's see........Did I mention I'm a dog lover?

Ok here we go. The movie is very slow moving. The dialogue is slow and boring. I understand what they're trying to achieve here. The plot of the film is depressing. With that I can certainly understand why people would like this but I didn't. And I love a deep story! There just wasn't that umph to give me any entertainment value. I stated in the title, typical Hollywood Junk because the first 10 minutes or so of the film hadn't passed and we met every race, creed, color and ethnicity around just to prove being inclusive is more important than entertainment. Even an interracial marriage. So go ahead and watch it. The subject matter may hit you and you might appreciate it. For me it was just flat.

  • 5 for visual effects. It was ok. Dumb ending.

Fly me to the Moon takes place in the 60's when NASA and space flight were at the forefront of our lives. I'm never going to say or use the word great when talking about it. It was ok. It was good. Sometimes fun sometimes boring and outright stupid at the end.

It's Hollywood and it's filled with inaccuracies but it never claims to be factual so that's ok.

Johansson was good, Woody was good, direction was good, writing was ok, kind of boring at times and dumb at times.

Security could never be broken the way it was in the film and the end was downright stupid!!!

I like the way they integrated some old footage and voices in the movie.

Now don't get me wrong here, I'm all for inclusion but being politically correct and using a black actor as one of the main engineers was one thing but making him a hero at the end to make an inclusion point and to make sure nobody's feelings were hurt was just ridiculous and laughable. I definitely took one star off just for that nonsense.

Like almost all newer movies I can never use the word great. When you write, direct and film because you're worried you'll usually get a 5 or 6 out of me.

Overall it was just ok to good.
