Eden is a gripping and raw post-World War I survival drama that explores humanity at its most fragile. Based on true events, the film dives deep into the moral decay that follows when people, in search of peace, end up recreating chaos. It's a haunting reflection on civilization - where jealousy, narcissism, and power struggles corrupt even the most isolated paradise. The characters are compellingly drawn - from a peaceful family yearning for stability, to a fame-hungry doctor masking greed behind virtue, and a manipulative woman who weaponizes influence to divide and dominate. A powerful, unsettling study of human nature in isolation.
Supermen of Malegaon is a heartwarming and inspiring tale about a group of friends chasing their cinematic dreams against all odds. The film beautifully captures the essence of passion, friendship, and small-town creativity. Technically, it's neat - with pleasant music, engaging camerawork, and earnest performances that keep it relatable throughout. While it doesn't offer anything groundbreaking, its sincerity and simplicity make it a delightful and uplifting watch that leaves you smiling by the end.
Dies Irae starts off as a masterclass in atmospheric horror. The first half is chillingly effective - the eerie tone, natural character buildup, and grounded performances pull you right into its unsettling world. Unfortunately, the second half loses its grip, veering into an overambitious direction that weakens the tension and leaves several early threads unresolved. The performances, especially from the leads, falter as the narrative gets erratic, and the forced horror elements dilute what was an exceptional buildup. A film that promised world-class horror but stumbled in its final act.
