Was not looking forward to this after the mess that was Terror Toons 3. And while I also hated this movie, it was much less insufferable than that third entry. But...

Both 3 and 4 are not Terror Toons movies. They may have the name, but there's nothing in these two movies that resembles anything about the first two films. It might seem silly to complain about continuity in such bizarre, oddball films, but seriously... 90% of the content in these last two films has nothing to do with the first two. And the stuff that does, seems extremely out of place and not part of the world set up in the first two.

So anyways, I love the first Terror Toons. Part 2 is just okay. But I have nothing good to say about this movie, other than it's not as annoying as the third film. The opening segment about killer bees should have been cut entirely, and the rest is pretty rough to get through too.

There's what looks to be an error message from an editing software somewhere in the final story as well. Was this a joke or what the heck?

Went into this completely blind, not having seen a trailer, only that very cool poster! And with no expectations, I somehow left disappointed.

Let's start with the good. It's very well shot and edited together. There's a few sequences that are elevated in their suspense because of the way they're composed together. Also, the performances are excellent. I was also really with the movie and engaged the whole time.

But then, all the mystery the movie had created seemed to have little payoff. The ending did not give a good explanation on John Lithgow's character. Doing my best to avoid spoilers, but let's just say there really isn't anything deeper, mysterious, or creepy going on in the nursing home. I definitely expected something more horror-tinged. Partially due to the poster, being awesome and the only promotional material I saw. But also because plenty of scenes in the setup make it seem like there's something horrifying going on, when there really isn't.

At the end I went "that's it?"

I don't really care for werewolf films, but this premise combined with B-movie Star Frank Grillo really sold me and I'm glad this is getting a mostly wide release. Although I predict it won't do big bucks theatrically.

It is a very silly movie. You'll know if you'll like it within the first couple minutes. While not all of the elements are fully realized, Werewolves has fun with its premise, and never has a dull moment. There's plenty that seems inspired, and I did not get the feeling that everyone involved was simply there for a paycheck.

There are many areas that could have used improvement. I had many questions about the logistics and lore, but it was just fun enough for me not to care much.

At the time of writing, there is a piece of IMDb trivia that is probably my favorite piece of trivia ever, and I hope it stays, and doesn't get erased. It reads "Director Steven C. Miller wanted to use real werewolves for filming certain action sequences but it was deemed too costly for the studio."

I love that budgetary reasons was the reason given for us not getting "real werewolves" in Werewolves. Gold.
