First I want to address the reviews complaining about this show centering around an awful person. This is true. Guess what? That's the premise of Seinfeld, Difficult People, Will and Grace, Curb Your Enthusiasm, VEEP, Girls, Will and Grace, Arrested Development, Strangers with Candy, Archer, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia AND Absolutely Faboulous. This is nothing new, it's not specific to this generation, and I would even say that Laid, if it continues to be as hilarious as it is, will stand among these shows as one of the better comedies, particularly *because* it is about an awful person and still manages to make us (eventually) root for her. If people are complaining about this promise now then you can throw out the last thirty years of comedy too.

Beyond that, the premise it super interesting, the show is well paced and the jokes are very funny throughout. There is a scene in first (maybe second?) episode that is one of the funniest thing I've seen in years.

If you need your characters to be selfless angels in unfunny situations this show is not for you. But if you're looking for something extremely funny and fun give this a chance.

If you've started watching this show, you must finish it before reviewing it. If you've come here to review it before the final credits roll, go away and come back once you have watched it all. If you've come here to read reviews of it and you are reading reviews that are ___ episodes in, don't read them, don't trust them, they cannot judge this show, it's 'plot holes' (there are none by the end) or anything about the plot. You just have to trust what I'm saying. The plot reveals itself slowly and there's a reason for this which I won't spoil. For me personally it was impeccably done and I'll only say that if you don't see the obvious intention of the show in the end and what it's trying to tell you, you weren't paying attention, neither to the show, or your own feelings.

The season starts slow, but it builds with incredible intensity and deep performances. The people giving the show negative reviews, for the most part, just didn't stick with it and it shows. Every common criticism is one the show addresses and resolves by the third or fourth episode. It's a mystery. You aren't supposed to know exactly what's going on. The show seems all over the place because it's supposed to! If it were cookie cutter organized you'd know exactly where it was going. Instead this the first True Detective finale where I really have no idea what to expect, and it's great! Can't wait for next week!
