I love this show for the characters, the dialogue, the story, and the relationships. It's a bit over the top at times, but that's what makes it so fun. It takes itself seriously, but not too seriously. The relationships between the characters are very non-traditional and I enjoy almost every character in their own way. I've read some harsh reviews about this show and they just seem completely unfounded to me. My only advice would be to watch the show. If you don't like it, you'll probably know soon enough that it's not for you. If you are like me, this is one of those shows that you'd be very sorry for missing out on.
I just finished the finale of this show yesterday (which I found painful to watch because it was so cheesy). Overall it's a fun show with some clever writing and likable characters. My wife didn't watch this show with me, but there are times she would watch an episode or part of one. It was a bit embarrassing at times because things didn't make sense or the dialogue or plot was cliche, but it was still a fun watch. I recommend not watching this show and another genuinely great show at the same time (like Peaky Blinders, The Wire, or The Americans). The difference between a good show and a great show will become obvious quickly.
