Excellent scenery, good storylines, attractive people scantily clad, doing lots of running, fighting and shouting- what's not to like?
This is engrossing and has some historically accurate bits and pieces so worth watching. This is entertaining, thought provoking and encourages exploration of our historical roots. Good characters.

I found the lead character to be 2 dimensional and to have few redeeming or watchable features. She didn't do a lot, was just one of those characters that just watches everything. This is an overdone technical device to encourage the viewer to watch and pay more attention. However, there was little to see, causing frustration.
The other characters had more life in them but these were not exploited to their full potential. The central theme being a mystery character, didn't really come off that well. This again could have been developed and made much more dramatic and interesting.
A good effort but this storyline was just the basic framework of the story, more flesh was needed on the empty and rather slow bones of the piece.

What have they done to this British comedy series written by the fabulous Julia Davis?
Despite re-shaping it for an american audience, it has had all the edges smoothed off and is just a collection of chattering two dimensional characters. Lines are delivered without decent comedy timing so any comedy evaporates before it arrives.
The idea that the most control-freak character is a sufferer of chronic pain, not only kills any chance of her being funny but is also not acceptable as a concept.
We also are subjected to lesbian parody characters circa 1990.
This is a struggle to watch compared to the original british version which has cult status in Britain and is outrageously funny. This just doesn't work as it's too lame and has "show me the bucks" written all over it.
