Along Came a Shadow is an intense high quality horror short film with great performances from newcomer Christina Gonzalez and seasoned performer Cynthia Santiago. Young professional Joseph Herrera did an excellent job directing and producing. He really brought out the excellent performance of Christina, who had up until this point only been acting as an extra. The movie begins with an intro into the camcorder aspect of the film which then leads into the kills. As a proof-of-concept film this movie definitely needs to be adapted into a feature-length project!! I was left wanting more kills, but will still rate this film ten stars from quality alone.
This was in my que for almost ten years and I got to watch it on Tubi TV for free (with ads). It started bland but only for a few minutes. The quality isn't great in the beginning dimly lit club scene, but it gets more vibrant during the outdoor scenes. There's lots of character development, one-liners, and action. The story is well-written and comes together perfectly at the end. I highly encourage others to watch this movie!
I went into watching this movie having read the negative reviews, but still wanted to watch it 'cause I love biopics and i like the movie poster design. At first it seemed dull 'cause you're watching a flawless character just go about their business. It heats up quickly with graphic visions that Sharon has of her and her friends' impending doom. The acting and writing are great with my only complaints being casting Hilary Duff as Sharon Tate. I feel Heidi Montag would have been a better choice; she has the acting experience and could bring in the viewers like Duff. Heidi also resembles Tate, unlike Hilary. The special effects are a bit "cheesy", you could easily tell that they are cheap graphics. The writing is phenomenal with two twists that I can't reveal 'cause I don't want to give anything away. All I can say is that it was a very bold and smart move for the writer to do this! Great job!!
