What Happened to Monday flew well way under my rarer and I'm only now seeing this even though it was initially released in 2017. Noomi Rapace has a big lift here as she is playing 7 identical siblings in a not so distant dystopian future. What is scary here is this doesn't seem that far off from reality if there was an over population issue in the World. The movie really challenges the audience with this question, what would you do if you lived in this type of futuristic society. Noomi Rapacs really does a good job here as the whole movie falls on her acting chops. If she doesn't do things well this movie fails. Glenn Close also does a decent job playing the leader of this society who is running for reelection. Willem Dafoe also does a good job here as well. The movie is slow moving in most parts but also hits all the right notes with it's drama and action scenes. What Happened to Monday is a very well made film and gets a strong 8 stars out of 10.
The Monkey was a wild and entertaining ride! Director Osgood Perkins was the perfect filmmaker for this Stephen King's story. The movie blends comedy in with a supernatural element with a killing monkey toy. The movie features tons of shocking deaths along with funny moments sprinkled throughout. In fact I was surprised on how many funny moments were in this film. I have never read the Stephen King book but am aware it's one of his more popular books. This movie could have quickly went off of the rails but instead it stays the course and sticks it's landing. The Monkey was one of my surprisingly fun good films of 2025. The Monkey gets a high 8 stars out of 10.
It Follows was a very good horror film that brings some strong ideas to the table and in a way reinvents the horror genre. This can be a very great thing or could also turn alot of viewers around who are not looking for a serious horror film like this. The typical viewer might be wanting more of a turn your brain off slasher type of movie and this is not it. It Follows is chilling from start to finish and makes you ask questions. It's also shot very beautifully and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It Follows gets a very high 9 stars out of 10.
