NOTE: Please note that the movies are classified cluster wise and they are not necessarily in ascending or descending order within a cluster. The cluster that the movie belongs to (Ivy League, Cluster2 or Cluster3), is mentioned below every movie. This is the list of all the movies belonging to the top most cluster and there is no comparison made between these 19 movies.

 Methodology used:

First, the animated movies were sorted on the basis of US animation companies. Following major US animation companies along with some new players, were considered for this list: 

1) Walt Disney Animation Studios  2) Sony Pictures Animation  3) Reel FX Studios  4) Triggerfish Animation Studios (South African company - considered in the list as their movie was released in India)  5) DineyToon Studios  6) Illumination Entertainment  7) Dreamworks Animation  8) Pixar  9) Blue Sky Studios  10) Rainmaker Entertainment  11) Laika 

The cut off maintained for the initial short listing of the movies was 6.5+ and could be increased further based on the needs of the individual. Some exceptions like Toy Story have been included in this list despite being dated beyond 2000. This has been done in order to acknowledge the cult status that the Toy Story series has gained in the subsequent years. Other classics like Beauty & the Beast, Bambi, 101 Dalmatians, Lion King, The Jungle Book have been excluded as they were released much before 2000. Those interested in watching old animated classics can refer to articles on greatest movies of all time. 

The movies listed above are further classified into the following categories:

 • IMDB rating >=7.5 and no. of votes >= 100,000 ---> ivy league 

• 7 <= IMDB rating < 7.5 and no. of votes >= 100,000  (OR)  IMDB rating >= 7.5 and 60,000 <= no. of votes < 100,000 ---> cluster 2

• 6.5 <= IMDB rating < 7 and no. of votes >= 100,000 (OR) 7<= IMDB rating < 7.5 and 50,000 <= no. of votes < 100,000 ---> cluster 3
