It's far from a disaster. While the dialogue occasionally veers into awkward territory, and not the greatest CGI, the film delivers well-executed action sequences that keep the momentum going. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is particularly impressive, showcasing both physical prowess and screen presence, further cementing his status as a compelling action star.
The second half does feel a bit rushed, but at just 120 minutes, the filmmakers seems to just want to quickly wrap things up. That said, this story might have worked even better as a mini-series, giving more time to flesh out characters like Dimitri and Calypso. A longer look at Sergei's transformation into Kraven during his isolation in Far Eastern Russia could've added more depth and made his journey feel even more impactful.
It's a very decent movie for a Saturday night with your brain in park. Just don't take it so seriously. Definitely worth a watch just because of Aaron Taylor-Johnson's wild action sequences. No pun intended.

Don't understand the super bad reviews and hate for this movie. I have never watched the musical so had zero expectations. I thought the movie was quite entertaining and a fun watch for the whole family. My 5 year old nephew suddenly got out of his seat and started dancing when Rum Tum Tugger was doing his thing. The kids got a good laugh out of the silly antics of Jennyanydots played by Rebel Wilson, who was essentially playing herself in all her other movies. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Rebel Wilson, Inthink she's hilarious! Absolutely loved Ian McKellan's performance as Gus and his presentation piece to contend for the Jellicle Choice. CG was able to gift this movie with realistic feline twitches and movements for the actors.
I've seen some reviews claiming there is no plot. It's quite simple, you got a bunch of cats who are contending to be selected as the chosen Jellicle to be whisked away to a new life in Heaviside Layer. Where's Heaviside Layer? Who knows? It's just some place a bunch of cats made up. Ultimately this is a movie about - well Cats! And the mystical , magical lives they lead.

I thought the movie was a great watch! It's so fast paced you don't even have time to feel remotely bored. True, it's not an in-your-face gory / blood and guts zombie movie, but that's all been done already! It's quite refreshing to watch a zombie movie that isn't just all about ripped body parts. The story line may be simple, and perhaps rather predictable, however the movie doesn't fail to keep your eyes completely glued to the screen and you on the edge of your seat throughout. Don't take to much liquids - the movie is about 2 hours long and you don't want to be missing any of it.
Just don't get all critical and start analyzing each frame or asking intelligent questions (yes there were quite a number of questions left unanswered). Definitely worth watching. Just enjoy it for what it is.
