This movie was cute, witty, and fun with lots of touching moments and funny Characters with a capital C! There's also a bit of romance and a feel-good message about trying harder. It had our whole family laughing, and even my nine-year-old liked it. She usually plays it cool and pretends not to like whatever adult-looking movies or TV shows that her parents pick. This time, she laughed along with us, and said she liked it at the end, which is so rare. It was nice to have a movie our whole family could enjoy together! It's a great show to put you in the Christmas spirit, but the family struggle and themes are universal, so you could watch and enjoy the movie any time of the year. Highly recommend!
The Octonauts never disappoint, and this series feels exactly like the old episodes except better, with more characters kids can relate to and more amazing science facts and mysteries to explore.
We still see as much of the main characters from the earlier series, and a few new fun characters get introduced. Many are kids in the Octo-world, so the kids in the viewing audience can see themselves in the world. Fantastic idea!
I saw one reviewer ask why Dashi was a main character now, and I guess that leaves me scratching my head. Each of the Octonauts has their own episodes to shine. And honestly, my family would love to see more of Tweak and Dashi, but I have a daughter and not a son, so that might make a difference. It's great seeing a science show that serves all of the characters. I would hope they wouldn't serve just the main three male characters and waste the female characters' potential. In fact, my favorite episode so far was a Dashi episode because the mystery was so well put together and an integral part of an exciting story.
Nice job, Octonauts!

This movie is delightful! It's good as a kids' action movie, but it really shines in the family comedy department. You don't even need kids to enjoy it. But watch at least one episode of _Dora the Explorer_, and you'll have an even better time at the film.
Overall, performances were great, writing was fun (mildly predictable in some areas, total surprises in comedic areas), and I don't think you could do a better adaptation of the TV show.
Thanks for giving our family such a fun and positive film!
