samisezin's rating
It is a prequel to the Kingsman movies from 2015 en 2017. It may not be the gem from 2015 and allthough the 2017 movies has higher rate than this one, both this one and the 2017 deserve at least a 7 star rating. It is fun to watch, gives a great twist at our world history, has great scenery and cinematographic experiences and the acting is just great. Or good at least. Storyline is fun and holds your attention throughout the movie. And you keep asking yourself: who in the heck is the bad guy? You never get to see him reckognizable and that adds to the watching experience. Go see this movie, for me it is on about the same level as the Kingsman movie from 2015. And i would say the one from 2017 deserves the same rating ass well.
It is German, it is European, it is no Hollywood blockbuster. But it is a Tarantino hommage. It is a Tarantino-esk western situated in the last days of WWII. Just enjoy it, if you love Tarantino and you are open minded to enjoy films from other directors in a Tarantino-esk style you will love it. There are also some historically aspects you will not find often in the more Hollywood rooted war movies, like the different 'cultural environments' of the various German war branches. Not all German soldiers were mass murdering maniacs. A lot of them were just indoctrinated young boys who did not know anything else. Truth is in the eye of the beholder, there is no such thing as 'the absolute thruth.
I had some reserves watching Echoes. The negative reviews somehow seemed more thrustworthy than the positive reviews. I started watching it though and have no regrets doing so. In the beginning i had a little difficulty figuring out who is who. And from episode two i was in sympathy with Leni. Then came episode five and it turned me around 180 degrees leaving me in sympathy with Gina. I love all the twists and turns as the series progresses. Go watch it yourself and i am pretty sure you give it more then the 5.9 stars it scores as i am writing this. I think it deserves at least a 7. And i do not think of it as a love-it-or-hate-it show. I really do not understand the 1 or 2 star or the 10 star scores. It is definitely a 7 star series.
