Super/Man is beautifully made. You can't help being moved by the story and by Christopher Reeve's inner strength and humanity. It moves along at a fine speed, filled with plenty of actual movies and TV appearances, as well as very solid documentary story-telling. Reeve commands the screen whether Superman or super/man. Very well worth watching.
I loved Taron Egerton in Kingsmen, so I had high expectations.
I found this movie to be ludicrous; In scene after scene, I thought no one would do whatever just happened, or they would get out of THIS by doing THAT. It became a distraction as improbability piled on improbability.
Other than taking place in an airport at Christmas, I truly didn't see the resemblance to Die Hard II (or the first one either, for that matter). John McClain of the Die Hard series is played as uber-capable, but caught in the wrong place. At every step, he makes a clever choice and uses his skill set to save the day. The hero here is played as a slacker, who is exactly where he should be (he works there!) but makes a lot of mediocre decisions. Eventually, he tries to rise to the occasion, but it takes a lot of pushing and screen time to get him there.
To really go into details, I'd turn this review into a spoiler, but that really isn't necessary. It's rare that I'd say "skip this," but I would here.

We liked Cross enough to watch all eight episodes in two sittings. My wife would give an 8; I was a 7 (and I'm the one writing the review!)
Aldis Hodge is compelling with great expressive eyes. But the story telling and the resolution were disappointingly ordinary. (I might add that you can't help but note that every episode has a different writer(s) and director. ). Cross suffers a bit from the "How will we fill up 8 hours?" problem, as well as occasionally "jumping the shark" in some of the outrageous things that happen.
I'd love to see Alex Cross solve some conventional murders, and, in particular, not murderers who have a connection with Alex Cross. That was especially disappointing about the end of this series, which suggests that a second series (if there is one) may bear similarities to the first.
