The Accountant 2 delivers plenty of what made the first film a cult favorite-sharp action, dry humor, and Ben Affleck's uniquely stoic performance as Christian Wolff. But this time around, it's less about unraveling numbers and more about explosions, banter, and a brotherly bond.
Jon Bernthal returns and steals nearly every scene he's in. The chemistry between the brothers is easily the movie's strongest asset. Their dynamic turns the film into a full-on buddy-action flick, and when it leans into that identity, it's a blast.
Unfortunately, the plot struggles to find the same footing. It throws a lot at the wall-global conspiracies, tech intrigue, trauma recovery-but never gels into a clear or compelling story. The pacing works, the set pieces are fun, but by the end, you're left wondering what the movie was really about.
In short: it's a great buddy action movie... in search of a plot. Still worth a watch if you enjoy Affleck in this role or are looking for some mindless entertainment with solid shootouts and sibling brawls. Just don't expect the storyline to add up.
