I do not understand the point of doing a frame by frame, nearly line by line reshoot of the original movie, which is a classic. Just a money grab. If you're going to do a live action remake, thereby losing a lot of kids, then go ahead and change it. Change the tone of the movie, change the feel of it. They're just acting out the original animated film but losing the perfect timing of the dialogue of the original. This movie actually felt awkward, like a less clear copy of an original. I do, however, have to give them strong credit for keeping John Powell's original score. I think that probably accounts for all six of my stars.
This movie is 100% action, 0% story, 0% heart. The only way this qualifies as an "Indiana Jones" movie is that it features Indiana Jones. Other than that, it's just mindless action with no story at all. It was a mistake to have an Indiana Jones movie not directed by Steven Spielberg. Even John Williams' heart was clearly not in this. For a while, I was wondering if he even did the music. Just disappointing on many levels. The whole beginning of the movie was unnecessary to the story. It could have just as easily been something mentioned in a conversation between two characters. And all of the artifacts that Indy ever dealt with, the Dial is the most pointless.
A very sweet romcom. Pleasant, feel good movie with a number of chuckles. William Shatner, Christopher Lloyd and Jean Smart are always a delight and they are given plenty of room to be themselves. There are worse ways to spend your time.
