By all rights this should be a dumpster fire.
Zombies, lowish budget, but the actors and direction and crew do some serious heavy lifting throughout to add some absolute charm throughout.
The main leads Devere and Papp are great together, with a believable chemistry. Devere needs a break in some full on action spin alongside Frank Grillo etc. Papp feels a little out of water in an actioner - but give her a bit more time to aclimatise and I think you could have an easy action star, with an easy genuine screen presence (could be simply down to budget thing to allow time to get familiar with guns, but she's not as unconvincing as many high profile stars have been and we've been spoilt with Matrix, John Wick, etc more recently).
2nd line or Barabas, Hannigan, and Latham do great jobs. Hannigan in particular stands out acting wise. Latham has a great ol' time hamming it up in his role where he knows his story is cliche rubbish and runs with it, you can see he's just enjoying himself.
You're not going to be blown away, but like so many bad films that get a lot more press that genuinely waste your time this one won't.
Definitely hits above where it should have.

I got 30 minutes in before I gave up.
It's bad, Agressively so on every single front.
A big part of it is the humour is bad - this is humour by someone who doesn't understand humour, I mean it's US so it's not off to a good start but this is super bad.
The actors are phoning it in, they know this is rubbish, but I suspect they got a health paycheck that should have gone on the fx, because they're really bad. As an fx heavy film really needed work, are atrocious. DC Superman quality bad fx. Awful.
Watch the trailer and if you're got eyes and ears, and think hey this looks like the worse thing I've ever seen: the film is even worse.

There's a great Call of Cthuluian gumshoe film here, possibly the best.
Yep, the FX are a bit wonky, yep the humour is a bit misplaced at times, but I'll be honest - this feels like someone's grabbed a teenagers Call of Cthulu game and turned it into a film, but one where the GM isn't a complete dick and thinks its clever to waste everyones time by killing the players all the time... yep you're a dick.
Some of the humour totally lands - and it's in a weird space of pre-cgi, late 80s/90s splatter horror coupled with muppets, so it's got real charm, unlike all the CGI bilge. There's a reason everyone remembers Gojira in all it's cheap fx and nobody remembers all the bad cgi.
It's absolutely packed full of actors that went on to be greats, and their ability really shines through.
Go on, do yourself a favour, you won't have a bad time.
