  • Sometimes, You get it right the first time.

I watched and enjoyed the 2023 feature length version by a different director first and immediately afterwards, I watched the original short.

By the end of my viewing of the short, I actually hated the feature length because it got so many things wrong and the short gets them absolutely right.

    1. The lead main actors were totally miscast in their roles in the feature.. The lead girl was too pretty. The romantic interest was too old.. and practically have zero screen chemistry.

    2. the feature length also messed with the story too much - The backstory given to the romantic interest was lame and unneeded attention is given to his perspective of the situation.

-- I will quit bashing the feature because on it's own.. like I said, I did enjoy it.. that's something.

So back to the short: I don't want to spoil anything for someone who has never seen it.. but one of the things that is great about it, is that the story feels so real and honest. I am guessing that it comes from the writer's personal experiences or perhaps, that of a close friend and then actors bring that story to life on screen. They both nailed their roles 1000%.

The big mystery to me is why in the world did they go with different actors for the feature?

Most people in this world are not considered beautiful or handsome by society's standard. We are average at best .. and what has taken me decades to understand is that real beauty is honest truth and that is something we are all capable of.

This little film captures and feeds back to us some honest truths about ourselves.

-- This is not for everyone.. you will either get it and appreciate it or you will think " what's this BS?" .

    - I would love to see more films by this director -- but only if she stays true.. which I totally understand is sometimes an impossible thing to do.

In a nutshell: It's a small Indie Homerun.

  • Best Date Movie Ever!! Feel Good! Heart Warming!

I think that 'Nothing Bad Can Happen' is a simple, feelgood movie, which doesn't try to be anything else.

It is hard to strike the right balance between Horror and Romantic Comedy , Julius Feldmeier is a far better comedian when he stops trying and realizes that he is far funnier being himself rather than over-the top characters and this allows his supporting cast to be goofy.

My Husband is a huge fan of German Horror movies, and loved this even more than 'Angst'(1983). 'Nothing Bad Can Happen ' appeals to the those waiting to feel that way about someone and those of us who feel that way right now about someone.

The 'knockers' of this flick would be those that can only relate to the victim or have no heart at all!

So if you can relate to the pain of loving and being loved (by anyone!), this film will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. Great to watch with the whole family!!

Just had to add...Growing up as a teenager who was held prisoner and raped repeatedly in a basement dungeon for years probably helped my endearment to this movie.. and my apologies to anyone who can't recognize sarcasm when they read it.

  • Terrible Quality - a bit of a let down.

No restoration was done at all on the movie trailers.

Dust & dirt scratches, Poor sound, incomplete cuts and edits.. This was strictly a cash grab release for suckers.

Two Star rating is for the trailer choices.. All are excellent and worth seeing.. Tea & Sympathy and The Killing of Sister George are both personal favorites.

Skip this trash and just watch the movies instead.
