Overall decent, although it did lack in excitement. The worst thing about the series is the way it flashed back all the way to when Clive was a young child in elementary school. I just couldn't get into that part of the show. The flashbacks to when Claire was younger and her memory of the resort and when her sister was killed, is interesting but too much time was spent on the Clive flashbacks. Hope season 2 leaves that out.
Also, the music played in the background to try to make certain scenes seem more mysterious, was used way too much. The simplest conversation would be happening, and that slow music would be played to up the excitement, but it only made the scenes stand out as boring.

I've seen a lot of the bad reviews and not to sound too moldy but I get the feeling it's the younger folks. Us olds in our 30s and 40s get the neverending question of what if? Which is why I think you need to be a little seasoned to truly enjoy this series. You needed to have lived life and gone through things to take in all this show is giving. Missing your youth, your freedom and possibilities. Being the age where you are too young to stop dreaming but too old to begin again. Wondering if you've chosen the right path, right career, right spouse, or if you were meant to be a parent. You're missing old friends, old neighborhoods, and old apartments. The writing in this show is nothing short of amazing and completely captures the thoughts spiraling in every mind of a millennial/gen x adult.
It's very watchable but it gets hard for me to keep watching it at times because I have a weird thing about saliva and when Marnie has the flashes in her head a lot of times it's people licking people's faces and you can hear the spit sounds a little too clearly. It's like nails on chalkboard for me like it really grosses me out watching people lick spit all over another person's face. Ick. If not for that I'd really like the show.
