In the gentle murder tradition but very well written and very funny. Two well matched lead actors with a strong supporting cast - from the paranoid chief detective to Jannie's priceless mother. Inventive plotting and excellent dialogue. What makes this a standout series for me is the witty verbal interplay between the characters. This makes it stand out from all the other gentle murder who-dun nits. This really does need to be renewed for another season.
The sense of location is strong with the Welsh valleys evoked very clearly. As is often the case the series has attracted a range of familiar and gifted guest actors. So please renew.

I have two words to describe this show: cracking and charming. It's well written and the interplay between the three main leads is excellent. The Ben Miller character is a so far an unrepentant narcissist. Michael Theo is uniformly excellent as his long lost son. Sally Phillips is her usual brilliant dependable self. The settings are authentic and the support cast terrific. It's extremely amusing and rates as my best comedy of 2025 so far. Th is really deserves to be renewed and become more widely known and appreciated. It's a very timely show with its exploration of cancel culture and is based on a brilliant conceit. Thanks to all involved.
This is well scripted, well acted, and filmed in lovely locations. Its commendable that the neurodivergent people are played by neurodivergent actors - about time.
But that's only part of why I like it. The plots are twisty, believable and often with an unpredictable twist at the end. There's imagination at work here. The dialogue is wholly convincing (the TV critic whose review I read must have been watching a different programme if she found the dialogue clunky).
The leads are believable, not always likeable, but still convincing. Especially the two main characters.
I love the locations. It's fun trying to decide what was shot in Belgium and what in York (apart from the obvious establishing shots of York skyline and streets).
Another series please!!
