The film begins and continues as an extraordinary study of characters, Western behaviour and customs, constant fear of conflict, and impropriety. However, the authors faced a problem with the ending of the film, and its conclusion, so they opted for an easier route and resorted to trash horror.
A Danish couple on vacation in Tuscany meets a similarly Dutch couple. Attracted, especially the male character, by their directness and unconventionality, several months later, although hesitantly, they accept an invitation from their vacation acquaintances to spend a weekend in their cabin in the Netherlands. However, the events that follow spiral out of control.
What a shame! Without this Frankenstein-like combination of genres, this could have been a masterpiece on par with Bergman or Haneke.

This movie is a little gem, a real rarity these days. I enjoyed every moment of it.
