Nic Gage may be the only star in this flick but he is a sheer delight w his magical display of talent w the script. The storyline isn't so intriguing but he is captivating and is the grandpa every old man wants to be and every 12 yo girl would love to have defending her. A US weapon long since retired, his skills have not faded and his ability to demoralize criminals sent to snuff him out is hilariously well-done. The other characters do their part in supporting roles but you can't help but look forward to the next scene w Cage to see what antics he will pull and what giggle you will enjoy. If you are looking for a light show w no thinking involved and just want to end w a smile on your face, look no further. Nic Cage for the W!
This story is a blatant reminder that child trafficking is alive and rampant in every corner of our world. One man's fight to combat it as best he can, illustrates the difficult job faced by law enforcement and the emotional toll it takes on the psyche of authorities that take on this fight. This is a difficult watch but one every viewer should take the time to see. The stats at the end are startling and explain why authorities tried to keep it out of theaters. We must fight these atrocities and save our children. Don't wait until the fight comes to you before you are willing to engage in the plight to save the innocents of our world.
This movie caught us completely offguard in a most pleasing way. The cast was excellent and convincing without overselling a NC accent. The beauty of the landscapes drew us in through the magic of the main character's eyes and artwork and the horror of the main plot of an abandoned child could not be overlooked but was inspiring as she saw it as a beautiful characteristic of herself rather than a flaw. No one is surprised at the criticism from the townspeople but at the same time the fact the some saw her even at such a young age meant she was never an invisible "Marsh Girl" and would always become something in this world. Even the closing moments caught us offguard by this beautiful character, Kya!
