It's heartbreaking to see how far the franchise has fallen.
This is made by someone who has no clue about what made the franchise great in the first place, The core values of Star Trek include humanism, virtue, and the Prime Directive. This movie completely ignores all of these concepts and focuses on flashy visuals and over the top cartoon style characters who seem disconnected from the Trek universe in all the bad ways.
The original Star Trek series (TOS) embodies optimism, exploration, and social commentary, envisioning a future where humanity has overcome prejudice and works together for mutual advancement. The USS Enterprise represents peaceful exploration, guided by diversity, ethical dilemmas, and the pursuit of knowledge. The show promotes rationality, science, and diplomacy over violence while addressing real-world issues like racism and war through allegorical storytelling. The Prime Directive emphasizes respect for other civilizations, and characters like Captain Kirk, Spock, and McCoy showcase the balance between logic, emotion, and leadership. Ultimately, Star Trek presents a hopeful vision of a united, enlightened humanity.
Everything in this movie is throwing cold water in the face of the Star Trek legacy.

While I get where they are trying to go, the nature of the way the writers went about it (without spoiling) seems clumsy and very ham-fisted.
