Carpooled into work today with Nathan. The main downside is that I'll get home later, but worth saving gas and in the future if we do this I can potentially bike commute home in the evening too and get some exercise.

Good practice tonight in good quality air. I like the new team and coaches; should be a challenging but fun season. Of course the air was terrible again by the time we reached home. Sigh.

Smoky weather is starting to get to me even though I'm staying inside most of the time. Feel pretty crappy after a quick errand over to the in-laws.

Ted Lasso S4E1 - Home πŸ‘πŸ‘
I'm pretty happy with the way they set up Ted's next act. Makes complete sense that he came back to KC and ended up being a good dad with a ridiculously underwhelming job.

Going to try out some mono white and possibly Azorius Sentry control decks this week. I always got punished by that card in limited, but I think it's pretty decent in constructed where you have lots of options to deal with the token it creates.

Fruits Basket S1E20 I Can't Believe You Picked It Up πŸ‘
Hiro is such a little punk; it's wildly uncomfortable to have a character actively attacking and abusing Tohru's kind and gentle qualities the moment they enter the show. Hats off to Momiji for fully understanding the Hiro-Kisa dynamic and saving the day!

We know at least one person who lost their home in the Old Trails fire already and I'm sure there are probably more based on the estimate of several hundred lost structures. So tragic.

Very eerie day with the nearby wildfire smoke blocking the sun and casting a dirty yellow tinge on everything. Our house isn't in any immediate danger, but we're sandwiched between two evacuation zones and I still feel pretty uneasy. At least there isn't much wind today and we have power.

Mary's birthday didn't go quite as planned because of the fire danger, but it still turned out pretty good. Houston made a delicious chocolate cake for her with raspberry filling, Nathan gave her a really cool handcrafted wooden teaspoon, and she absolutely loved the gift the girls and I made for her! We had to immediately hang it up on the wall tonight!

All of our birthday plans for Mary got cancelled because of the nearby wildfire evacuations. We're not in immediate danger ourselves, but there's no way we can leave our pets to go out to dinner right now with so much evacuation traffic clogging the only routes back to our house.

My birthday present collaboration with the girls for Mary is really coming together! They did a great job and now I just need to finish up my portion today.

First soccer practice in a while tonight. New team and new location so hopefully it all works out.

My foot is feeling way better today. Weirdly enough pushing through a half hour walk with Mary last night worked wonders for alleviating the soreness when not much else seemed to make a difference.

Slipped a step bringing the dogs down the stairs this morning in bare feet and banged the bottom of my right foot pretty good. It's pretty sore to walk on, but there's no sharp pain or swelling like the times I broke my left foot as a teen, more just soreness and discomfort when I walk on it.

King of the Hill S15E1: Failure to Hard Launch πŸ‘πŸ‘
I've always had a soft spot for this Texas slice of life comedy classic, and it's downright impressive how seamlessly relevant it remains since its return. Absolutely love that Bobby and Connie's new relationship has such a mature and healthy dynamic, while still providing so much comedy gold as everyone else reacts to it.

Just heard that noted tech journalist (and infamous Apple fan troller) John C Dvorak passed suddenly at age 80. He'd even released a three hour episode of his No Agenda Show podcast with Adam Curry the day before; the 1887th episode no less. I'm morbidly curious about listening to it, and impressed with how prolific they were.

We've had a brand new Circle-K and now 7-Eleven open up recently right next to the Nom Nom on the highway near our neighborhood. I questioned the need for more convenience store/service stations when they were being built, but turns out the 7-Eleven also offers EV charging which is a huge point in its favor. The new Circle-K does not unfortunately.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 1 was phenomenal. Who know that a slice-of-life fantasy adventure mashup could be such a brilliant examination of friendship, heroism, and mortality. Excited to do a rewatch with my younger daughters.

The Luca Williams-Barnett highlight reel from today's MK Dons preseason match were πŸ˜˜πŸ‘Œ. So much excellent line-breaking passing and ability with the ball at his feet.

Welcome to Wrexham S5 πŸ‘πŸ‘ was completely brilliant and I didn't realize how screwed Wrexham were by the Southhampton cheating decision, and the fact that Hull City, the team that nicked the last spot on the final day, went on to win the playoff and make the Premier League.

With the 1-0 victory for Spain, Pedro Porro keeps the 3 straight World Cup titles for Spurs players streak alive (obviously Romero would have counted if Argentina won, but he's halfway out the door already).

Not going to lie, Enzo Fernandez picking up a red car via a braindead second yellow was pretty enjoyable.

It's starting to pick up a little bit, but the half time show was a lot more entertaining and interesting (Madonna, R9, Ronaldinho. the Muppets, BTS, Ted Lasso and Coach Beard, and of course Shakira), than the first seventy minutes of this 0-0 World Cup Final.

FRA 4-6 ENG FT
Highly entertaining game. Saka gets a hat trick and Bellingham slams the door shut on France with a solo breakaway in the waning moments of the game.

FRA 0-4 ENG 45 +1'
Saka adds to the French misery when he latches onto an amazing through ball and puts it into the back of the net.
