Nelson's Last Athletics Carnival

Yesterday we had perfect weather for Nelson's last Athletics Carnival at Plenty Valley Christian College.
He finished off with a bang!
Nelson came first in the 100m. He was relieved as the boys had made a bet that whoever came last had to shave their arm! Nelson definitely made sure it wasn't him.
He came second in high jump. Not bad considering he hasn't done it since the Carnival last year!
This was a personal best for him - 1.7m.
Meers House came first in house/teacher relay.
He also came third in the 4 x 100m relay.

So the end of an era for Nelson and for me.
After 16 years of attending Athletics Carnivals, that's it for me! In fact, it's the last time I officially help out at school.

Austin's Last Athletics Carnival

Today was Austin's last Athletics Carnival for PVCC.
Meers House had the theme of Grandmas and Grandpas aka old people! Nelson decided not to dress up this time.
Meers House came equal first in the dress-up.
Here's Austin trying to break the PVCC Open High Jump record (175cm). Unfortunately, it didn't happen today.
He still won the event though.
Nelson coming second in the 100m sprint.
With the lovely Paris.

Little Athletics Presentation Night So No FNSI For Me!

Last night was the Diamond Creek Little Athletics Club Presentation Night and AGM.
Little Athletics has now finished for Austin.
Here he is with Stephanie, Will and Peter.
Next season they'll be off to Senior Athletics.
But the big surprise was that Noel was made a
Life Member of the club!

I didn't end up making it to Friday Night Sew-In but planned to do some stitching today at NOTYQ today. All I managed to do was sew a press stud on a secret project.
So no photo to show you!

Athletics Centre Championships

Last weekend were the Diamond Valley Centre Championships for Little Athletics.
It was also Austin's final day competing in Little Athletics.
Next season he will be in seniors.
Austin came first in his favourite event, High Jump.
He jumped 165cm (although not a pb)!
He finished up with three medals.
Besides the High Jump, he also came first for Triple Jump and second for Long Jump.
Thought I'd show you a photo of Austin at the
Centre Championships back in 2009/2010.
Yes, that was the year he went blonde!
Austin and Will with Nick back at the
2009/2010 Centre Championships.

Austin and Will.
They have certainly grown a lot.
Do you want to know something funny?
Those shorts are the same ones in both photos!
Just a lot shorter.
He didn't want a new pair because "they still fit"!

Muck Up At Little Athletics and FNWF

It was Muck Up for the Under 15's and 16's at Athletics last night. Austin went in a Morph Suit.
I think it is quite creepy myself!
 They had lots of fun.
No PB's last night. They were the slowest races
with some just gently jogging or skipping along.
I didn't manage to do any stitching as it was a bit dark.
But I've been stitching this morning and have finished all the lazy daisy flowers and the first six Colonial knots.
Only 378 more to go!
Head over to Cheryll's to see what everyone else got up to.

High Jump - Silver.
Long Jump - Bronze.
400m - Bronze. PB with him coming in under 1 minute.
With Will and Brandon receiving their medals.

Congratulations, Austin!
Another great athletics meet.

FNSI, OPAM and the Tradie!

My FNSI project was this little sparrow stitchery by Jenny of Elefantz. This is for Operation Sparrow. You can read all about it here on Jenny's blog. I didn't get as much done
as I was at Little Athletics for the twilight meeting
and the light wasn't good enough.
Thank you to Wendy for hosting us last night.
Head over here to Wendy's to see what
every one else got up to.
It's time to sign up for OPAM 2015 with Peg and Kris
Head over to either Peg's or Kris's blogs to
see all the details and sign up.
I wonder how many projects I will finish this year!
Mitchell has survived his first week of getting up early and going to work. Although the 7.00am starts are a bit of a killer for him! Nelson took this selfie last night at athletics.

A New Jacket and FNWF!

Last night was the Diamond Creek Little Athletics Club Presentation Night. Here is Austin with his fellow
Under 15's team mates, Kwaby, Will and Peter.
Austin and Kwaby were named as
Co-Captains for the 2014/2015 Season.
Here's Peter helping Austin on with his new jacket.
 Two very happy boys!
Congratulations Austin and Kwaby.

The Captains who were there last night -
Will (2012/2013), Kwaby, Austin,
Peter (2013/2014) and Stephanie (2013/2014).
The guest speaker was weightlifter, Simplice Riboeom. He told us his story about growing up in Cameroon and how he was one of the nine Cameroon athletes who came to Australia for the 2006 Commonwealth Games and never went home. He competed in the 2010 Dehli Commonwealth Games and won Gold for Australia!
We all got to hold his medal. You don't often get the chance to see one of these medals in person.
Here is a link to find out more about his journey from Cameroon to Australia.
So by the time we got home, no sewing was actually done!
I did get a little done earlier in the afternoon.
I've started the next block on my sampler.

Head over to Chez's blog to see what
everyone else got up to.

Mucking Up and Fun and Games!

Last night was "Muck Up Night" for the Under 15's at Little Athletics. It is a traditional night where the Under 15's dress up and have fun. For some of them, this is their last year at Little Athletics as they decide to head to senior athletics. Austin and his mates are planning to go back next summer for Under 16's. He might also do seniors as well.

As we now have lovely Hawaiian costumes, Austin made use of his one. Nobody raced properly last night. There was skipping, twirling, cutting over the tracks, go slow starts and ended with a massive water fight with the girls! When it was time for Triple Jump, Austin did a backflip into the sand pit! I think they all had a great time.
As for Let's Get Stitched, it was Pizza and Games night. After munching away on pizzas, the fun and games began. Here is everyone concentrating hard on working out the scrambled quilting related words.
This had to be the quietest point of the night. In fact, there was so much laughter that at one point Security came to ask us to be quiet! Naughty, Naughty! LOL!
This game we each had a paper plate and had to balance it on our heads. Dawn then told us what we had to draw!
Well, I'm sure you can imagine the laughter happening here.
Can you see my sewing machine, complete with thread, fabric under the needle, pin cushion, scissors, power cord in the wall, all sitting on a table? What, you can't!
We also had to bring a charm pack in a paper bag. After passing them 3 to the left, 5 to the right, 2 to the right, 8 to the left, etc, this was the charm pack I came home with.

Tonight we're off to dinner, so it should be another fun packed night with lots of laughter. Tomorrow is the big one. Stitching Day! I don't know how much stitching we'll manage to get done but who cares!

Update on Mitchell's cricket. They got the opposition out for 100. Banyule are 1 for 5 and Mitchell is in batting.
Stay tuned for next Friday's update!
