A Sneak Peek!

My special friend Baatholamu,
affectionately known as Baa (Baa's Amazing Adventures)
asked me ever so nicely for a sneak peek.
So here it is just for you, Baa!

Stitching In Sydney

The wonderful thing about spending time in Sydney
was that I had lots of time to stitch.
After doing some touristy things we would come home
and just relax the rest of the afternoon.
I finished my little Christmas elf.

Using Jenny's (Jenny of Elefantz Stitching Club) Simple Alphabet Sampler, I stitched this initial for someone special.

I also stitched this one for another special person. But of course they are a secret, so that's all I can show you.
I started and finished this lovely stitchery that Melody
There's a cute Theadora button to go on it.
Block 4 of Jenny's Vintage Kitchen BOM is now done too.

A New Project!

That's all I can say.
It's a secret!

Catching Up

I hope everyone had a lovely New Year.
I've been spending some time in my sewing room.

The first two borders are now on my FQS BOM.
The Flying Geese are pinned and ready
to start sewing for the next border.
I've been doing some stitchery preparation so that I have some handwork to pick up when I need it.
I'm joining Jenny (Elefantz) in stitching her Vintage Kitchen BOM. I found the perfect feature fabric in my stash. It has a real old feel about it. I'll get block 1 finished today.
I've also stitched one of Jenny's little patterns from Month 3 of her Stitching Club. Now to make it into something.
A little sneak peek to finish off with.

A Thank You and Taking A Break!

I had another little win recently.
Melissa at Ms Midge also had a 500th Post Giveaway.
How cute is this note paper on the front!
A package arrived with these lovely goodies. I love those criss cross blocks. I'm sure I'll be able to make them
into something special.

I'll be having a little blogging break as we are heading off in our camper to Khancoban in New South Wales. It is at the base of the Snowy Mountains, near Mt Kosciuszko.
There'll be some lovely walks through the National Park
and hopefully some relaxing stitching!
A week with no blogging! How will I survive?
I'll leave you with a sneak peek
of a project I am working on!

Success (Almost), A New Project and A Sneak Peek!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions with the
colour running in my quilt.

I got some of the colour catchers and
most of the run has now gone.
There were two sections that the run didn't go away.
A bit on the green spot here.
This was left when I did the first wash
with the colour catchers.
I did a second wash and basted the catcher over the top of the section. You can see a little more dye came out.
Quite a lot came out in the first wash. The second pair is actually a very pale pink. The bottom catcher is to show you the original colour. Melody and elliek also suggested using plain Greek yoghurt so I'm going to get some and try to get those last little bits out. The yoghurt won't hurt the quilt
so I might as well give it a try.
It's been a long time since I last did any cross stitch.
The last one was I did was this one in 1996
when I was expecting Mitchell.
When I saw Corey at LMS/Adventures in Quilting was hosting a Quilty Stitches Sampler Along, it made me want to try my hand at it again.
These are the colours I have chosen to use.
I think what got me in was the first block - "Swoon"!
The centre is actually a pink, not red.
It took me a bit of the while to get back into the swing of cross stitch. There have been quite a few crosses unpicked when miscounting. But I think I've got the hang of it again. Block 1 is now finished just in time
for Corey to give us Block 2.
A sneak peek of my Dresden plate for our
Friends Having Fun Swap because Fiona loves peeks!

Cricket, Warrandyte and Sewing!

Mitchell is playing in a 20/20 cricket competition in a team made up of his friends. The "Destroyers" played two matches on Sunday and had their butts kicked in both games! LOL! But their shirts looked great!
Mitchell looks pretty professional here, doesn't he!
For once Mitchell had a smile on his face
when he went out!
It was quite pleasant sitting in the shade watching them get whipped! Did I tell you they lost? LOL! Don't worry that I am upsetting anyone. No one has been offended in the team as they were all had a good laugh at themselves and said how bad they played themselves!
As many of you will know, Melbourne is in a heatwave. Monday night we went back to Warrandyte for the kids to have a swim. This is the tunnel at Pound Bend. You can float through the tunnel. See the empty tyre tube behind Mitchell? Nelson was supposed to be on it!
Here he comes, on foot!
Molly went into the deeper section and had her first proper swim. She looks older when she is wet. Today is a 41oC day (and the next two days too). We are heading down the beach for a picnic tea with some friends. It's so hot I may just put on the new bathers I bought yesterday and actually get in the water. Then again, maybe I won't! LOL!
A sneak peek of some secret sewing.
I've been playing with these and now I'm heading into the sewing room to start making them into something!

A Quiet Weekend!

There wasn't much happening around here this weekend so I managed to get some sewing done. Of course, I can't show you the whole projects as they are a secret!
A bit of stitchery.
Some quilting.
Christmas!
Plus a bit more on this stitchery. You might think I've been working on this forever. It is a project for when I haven't got any other handwork but need something to stitch.
