A landing is both a movement and a state of being. It can be the final part of a journey from one place to another, but also finding your feet and creating balance in a new situation.
This album embodies both. A movement through more than fifteen years of writing music, album releases, and tours, to a new standing point where compositions that lacked a home can take root and flourish on their own terms.
The special combination of instruments and melodies has ties to Denmark's musical heritage, my background, and reflections on the time we live in - three elements that give the music substance, depth and a surprising "Scandinavia meets Eastern Europe" sound.
Landing is also an expression of my hope that more people will dare to discover and delve into their own roots. It is a call for more curiosity, more understanding, more open eyes, and conversations across cultures and traditions. It can create strong bonds between both music and people, and also help find oneself. The more I have cultivated my own roots, the more I feel at home, and the more I have dared to move in new directions. I hope this is felt and heard in the music.
I hope this album will bring joy, celebration, wonder, reflection, and perhaps even inspiration.
THANK YOU to my fabulous fellow musicians - with your passion and solid craftsmanship, you have helped bring this album to life, as only human hands and living heartbeats can.
THANK YOU to my partner, my son, my family and all my friends for cheering me on and supporting me all the way.
THANK YOU to Ian for your keen ears and help through the whole process, to Louise for being a true rock during recording in March 2023, to Sacha Kjøller for all our important “dream meetings”, and to Erling from GO’ Danish Folk Music for helping me navigate the jungle of music release dos and don’ts.
THANK YOU to you, dear listener, for taking the time to read this text and listen to my music in this hectic age.

Hi there - welcome to my Bandcamp!
I'm a bit of a multi-potentialite, and have expanded my work from only being a
composer and fiddler to being a cultural entrepreneur, having worked on lots of album releases, tours, festivals, book publishing, knit-music-writing and lots more. I'm excited to share my music with you here, and if you're curious about all the other stuff, please visit my website!...more
Laura is one of my favorite artists - talented, amazing instrumentalist and singer, and writes personal songs about life put into a modern "indie" soundscape. Check it out! Maja Kjær
The Danish trio Hvalfugl plays nordic folk and jazz inspired music with ambience and inspirations from the legendary Swedish pianist and interpreter of Swedish traditional tunes, Jan Johansson. Maja Kjær
LAU is probably the reason I started thinking about experimenting with the shape and sounds of "the wrapping" of my tunes. A big inspiration for my own album "Landing", though it may not show! Maja Kjær
