Sometimes a pep talk can’t be sugarcoated.

The second half of this song is the closest Maledictis gets to a “jam,” with Darcy (horn), Adam (trumpet), Mike (vibraphone), and Warren (sax) each taking a turn improvising over constant key changes.

It’s one of those pieces where I can say I wrote the foundation, but the real shape came from the creative ideas of many others. I had no idea what it would sound like when we began, and none of us truly knew until it was finished.
