It's now been 28 years since Ice Cube made his movie debut in John Singleton's Boyz N The Hood.

But he still remembers the moment it all happened for him.

In the clip above from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Ice Cube recounts the full story, before going on to discuss why the movie made such an impact.

"Boyz N The Hood was able to show that guys like Doughboy were real people," explains Ice Cube. "And not just what America calls 'criminals'."
