It's just another lonely late night
None of my friends are home
Even my butler's gone
He's sending postcards from the Black seaside
Here comes the rain again
I guess I'm staying in
When I'm feeling low
I do the only dance I know
It may not be the Lindy Hop
But you know it's all I've got
The Frankenstep
I do the Frankenstep
That's right, the Frankenstep
I do the Frankenstep
Then I see a bolt of lightning
No time for feeling blue
I've still got work to do
Upstairs to check on my creation
I turn a crank or two
Tighten up both his screws
Another bolt comes down
I hear an other-worldly sound
I cannot believe my eyes
I shout out "It's ALIVE!"
And it's doing the Frankenstep
It's doing the Frankenstep
We started doing the Frankenstep
Me and my creation, Frankenstep
An overnight sensation
Frankenstep
Frankenstep
Frankenstep
No more, no more lonely late nights

I think this is one of the most beautiful albums ever created. It pierces the soul and I feel renewed after every listen. Thank you Big Thief and Adrianne Lenker for one of the greatest works of songwriting and composition I've ever encountered! birdpatch
Alanna Royale's approach to classic soul honors the sounds and artists of the '60s and '70s while adding sparkling contemporary flair. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 15, 2023

I spent my New Year's hangover listening to "Sky Mall" on repeat, when I discovered my new favorite bass player. "Fugue State" is what you get if the Muscle Shoals musicians took a break to noodle around on Bach and eventually became my wake-up alarm. "First Place" reminds me of that scene in "Clerks" where Randal walks into the "good" adult video store. t0cktock
