I listened to this when it first released, but for some reason didn't pull the trigger. I can't at this point figure out why. Thanks as always are due to year-end lists for these discoveries (and rediscoveries). Tell Us is a beautiful trio of songs that are gentle but energetic, with a cinematic stirring of energy present throughout. Piano, strings, keys, or drums may at any time be leading the moment, with smoothly flowing transitions between instruments shaping the trajectory of the songs.

Great album. I always love the music of Gard Nilssen, and on this album I also love Per "Texas" Johansson on his cor anglais, which is a pretty unusual instrument in jazz
