Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Menomonee Falls

Broad Spectrum Training for a Broad Spectrum Future

The mission of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Menomonee Falls Family Medicine Residency Program is to use evidence-based and innovative strategies to prepare community-focused physicians who can navigate and thrive in a complex health care landscape while providing compassionate, quality care for our health system, region, and beyond. This program was established in 2017, as a partnership between the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Family & Community Medicine and Froedtert Health, to address the growing need for compassionate and skilled family physicians for the state of Wisconsin.

Program Background

Our program excels at developing family medicine physicians who are skilled in practicing both inpatient and outpatient medicine. Because of our location, we have the unique privilege of serving patients from all backgrounds including representation from urban, suburban and underserved areas.

Our continuity clinic is housed in the Town Hall Health Center, a multi-disciplinary medical center.  The majority of the program’s inpatient training is found just across the street from our primary clinic site at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, a community-based hospital affiliated with a larger health system.

As the only residency based in our community hospital, our residents work directly with Froedtert and MCW specialists to develop into well-trained family physicians. Our program has a large elective catalog available for residents to suit their individualized future practice needs.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR’S WELCOME

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to learn more about our program. As Program Director since 2025, I am excited to share what makes this such a special place to train.

Our greatest strength is our people. From our administrative team and clinical staff to our faculty and residents, you will find a community that genuinely cares about one another and is invested in helping you succeed. Our faculty bring a wide variety of interests and experiences to the program, and their passion for teaching continues to help our residency evolve and improve.

Our curriculum offers strong training in outpatient and community-based family medicine, hospital medicine, sports medicine, behavioral health, and LGBTQ+ health. Residents also have opportunities to pursue areas of special interest through individualized tracks and electives. While some residents develop focused niches, many choose to remain broad-spectrum family physicians and go on to practice comprehensive outpatient primary care or to become hospitalist physicians (see the alumni page for more details).

One of the things I love most about residency is that it is a time to continue discovering who you are as a physician. You do not need to have every career goal mapped out on day one. In fact, many residents find new passions and interests along the way. Our job is to provide the experiences, mentorship, and support that allow you to explore those possibilities while becoming a confident, compassionate family physician.

I hope you enjoy learning more about our program. We look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,
Brooke Passolt, MD
