Kolkata Metro Information
“India’s first, Kolkata’s pride. Thirty-seven years after independence, Kolkata’s metro system was the first in India. The metro not only serves the people of Kolkata, but also the neighbouring areas of South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas. However, the metro only operates on one line, serving 24 stations in total. With expansion plans already underway, 5 more lines are under construction. Its popularity with the masses is evident from the fact that it has a daily ridership of over 650,000.
