This album was made during 2023 - which was a pivotal year for me and my family. In March we lost our first pet (a cat named Bonnie). Then in May we adopted a second dog (Pepper), who ended up being attacked by our other dog. Then in October, we lost a second cat, one that was a very good friend to me (Pivot). It was at this time that I started writing this album. Then, we made the difficult decision to rehome our dog, which was extremely difficult for me because I very much loved this dog. I lamented to many of my friends about what a terrible year it had been - and then, my mom became extremely ill and passed away a week after rehoming our dog. Life had taught me one very grand lesson: Things can always get worse. There is no "I had a bad day, so the next day will be bright." Rainbows come at the end of storms, but so do tornadoes.

What you hear in this album is my grieving process... backwards. The most 'hopeful' tracks appear towards the end. Although I had lost both cats by this point, and was now struggling with the thought that I might have to rehome my dog, I was still unaware of how the year would finish.

Today, the release of this album, coincides with my mother's birthday. Her favorite color was purple.
