Following the hypnotic depths of Peve's Road EP, MiZi MuZiK presents Road Remixes—a reinterpretive expedition featuring four visionary takes by Britta Arnold, Auggië, Zakir, and Abuk, each carving a unique path into Peve's intricately textured sonic terrain.
Britta Arnold opens with a dark, cybernetic overhaul of Pulse, cloaking its stripped electric core in a veil of dystopian tension. Blown-out impacts, pitch-bent flurries of otherworldly blips, and a relentless, hard-wired beat converge in a sleek and eerie dancefloor tool—tech-noir energy orbiting a heavy, groove-centric core.
Auggië reworks Marijuana with tribal groove structures and unadulterated dancefloor energy in mind. Laying down jittering hats and shakers beneath warm, mirage-like chords, his rework casts Peve's hazy, revolving harmonics in a shuddering, strobe-lit framework of relentlessly cycling drum patterns and a wildly pitching retro-futuristic lead.
Zakir transforms Kassamba into a sprawling genre-bender with compressed melodic fragments and chopped-up resonances flickering across a sinuous groove. Acid-tinged and breakbeat-infused, Zakir's playful, inventive, and club-focused take infuses the original with powerful anthemic energies.
Abuk closes the EP with a lean, acid-drenched rework of Kassamba. Stripped to their groove-heavy essentials, razor-sharp 303s and mangled chord chops transform the original's subtle details into raw propulsion. Hypnotic and ruthlessly effective, it's laser-focused dancefloor alchemy.
The Road remixes are both an extension and an expansion of Peve's psychedelic, groove-driven vision. Ranging from dystopian rollers to acid-laced club tools, Road shows the compelling hybrid energies artistic reinvention can produce.
