The Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) has announced an open call for applications for the position of Rector. The call has been issued by the maintainer of the university, the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
Applications are once again open for the joint student residency programme run by MOME and the Collegium Hungaricum Rome. Established in 2024, the initiative is designed to support the launch of MOME students’ professional careers and international success, each year offering six talented students the opportunity to spend four weeks in July at the Hungarian Academy in Rome. The programme includes a preparatory course and fieldwork, followed by a group exhibition in the spring at the Falconieri Palace Gallery. Both graduating BA and MA students are eligible to apply, including those enrolled in English-language programmes, who may submit their applications in English.
In 2025, the Hegyvidék Local Council launched a student ideas competition for students of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, inviting proposals for the revitalisation of the disused urban block bordered by Szoboszlai Street – Böszörményi Road – Beethoven Street and its surrounding area. The brief called for a renewed urban vision, and first year MA students from the MOME Architecture Institute spent the semester developing complex design responses for the site. The Árkay Prize was awarded to the most compelling designs, with first prize going to Eszter Hegedűs and Boglárka Számuel, and the shared second prize to duos Bence Huszár and Renáta Tribel as well as to Hanga Izabella Reppert and Emese Szakál; the proposal by László Juhász and Áron Náray received a commendation. An exhibition of the competition entries is on view at Barabás Villa until 25 February 2026.
Another Hungarian animation is heading to Berlin: Janka Feiner’s diploma film, Fire in My Pocket, has been selected for the Generation Kplus competition programme at the Berlin International Film Festival. The nearly 10-minute film was created on the Animation MA programme of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, with the support of the National Film Institute Hungary. Set in a magical mushroom realm it opens a window onto children’s inner emotional lives, impressing the Berlinale selection committee with its blend of stop-motion with digital drawing animation.
Organised by the Animation programme of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME Anim) and the Fresh Meat Festival, the Fresh Rooster Animation Film Days will take place for the fourth year in a row at the Zugliget Campus and Toldi Cinema in Budapest. The two-day programme, held on 16–17 January 2026 features the premiere screenings of diploma films by the class of 2025, alongside professional talks, portfolio consultations, animation premieres, a Ferenc Sajdik retrospective, a comics marathon, and the traditional Grafix fair.

The Technology Park has state-of-the-art workshop and studio facilities for education. With its facilities/machines for experimentation, prototyping, media content development and professional production, and the expertise it provides, it is a place for practical training.
