The spiritual experience of unity

In my art journal today, the brush isn't just an extension of my hand—it's an extension of the air, the light, the paper, and the vibrant colors.

They say the observer, that mysterious force we call God or the universe, cannot see itself. To glimpse its own reflection, it created a cosmos and countless beings to mirror its vastness and experience itself from infinite perspectives. Can you see yourself, truly? We are blind to most of what we are, and perhaps that is the greatest illusion. The mystics speak of this Māyā, this magnificent veil designed to hide ourselves from ourselves.

Have you ever wondered what it means to be "asleep," as the great mystics claim? We search for clues but find none, until we look back on our own lives. As we age, we see how naive and slumbering we once were. It takes time for the flower of our being to finally bloom and fully open. In this humbling process, we realize we can never know it all. We will only ever catch a fleeting glimpse of the astonishing wonder that we are, embraced by the mysterious force that holds all things.

Dreaming of the universe

Have you ever felt that moment when the boundary between you and what you're doing begins to soften?

In our daily lives, we are always split in two: the observer and the observed. We are the person watching the sunset, and the sunset is the thing being looked at. We are the artist, and the canvas is our subject. This duality feels so natural, so real—the constant story our ego tells us, that we are separate islands in a vast ocean.

But what if that's a trick of the mind? What if the sunset isn't something "out there" but an experience unfolding within?

This is the profound journey of Samadhi, an ancient Sanskrit word meaning "to unite." It's a state of deep meditation where the separation between the observer and the observed simply dissolves.

To me, there was never a separation to begin with. We simply chose to forget so we could remember again. We are here to see ourselves from a new perspective, one so close to the subject that we feel separated—and without close observation, we forget our true nature.

I am the light

The spiritual experience of unity

When diving into the ocean, you become the water.

The boundary between you and the sea vanishes.

You awaken to find your own self reflected in all things.

The artist becomes the canvas, the art, the unspoken truth.

The meditator becomes the meditation's flight.

The lover becomes the beloved, and love itself.

Meditation

As you create in your journal today, play with this idea. Don't just look at the colors; become the colors. Don't just watch the words appear on the page; become the very energy flowing from your pen.

Let your art be a portal to that place where the seer and the seen are a single, beautiful dance. In that union, you will find not only your art, but your true, boundless self.

Dreaming of the universe

Eye sky

The light✨—so magical, so mysterious—is a beauty I can't touch, yet it feels as if I am a part of it. It lives within us, giving us warmth and happiness throughout this experience of living.

I love the way it enters my room every day through this skylight. I've always been drawn to them; this is the second one I've had, but this time feels different. Perhaps I've learned to appreciate the small, special things a little better. I'm grateful for the countless blessings I can now truly see. Getting older, it seems, is less about age and more about elevating the person you are, learning to fly in appreciation and love for this life.

Disconnect from the Noise, Connect with Yourself

Sometimes, the world seems like an overwhelming place, especially when the news bombards us with stories that fill us with unease. It's easy to feel swept away by that tide of negativity, but what if we decided to change our perspective?

The key is to be conscious of what we choose to put in front of us. Just as a walk in nature can transform a gray day into one of peace, what we consume mentally has the power to influence our mood and energy.

Instead of absorbing the sadness that often floods the media, I invite you to take control of your well-being.

What nourishes you, heals you, and centers you on what truly matters:

  • Spend time in nature: A walk in a park, a garden, or the woods can renew your spirit and give you new clarity. Take a small gathering of art supplies to have an encounter with a colorful flowers garden or even some buildings.

  • Practice meditation or journaling: These tools help you calm your mind and connect with your inner self. Use beautiful music to connect with a high vibration while at it.

  • Connect with your Inner state of consciousness: Close your eyes and dive within, be aware of your inner state, consciously direct it to higher states like love, peace and joy!

By choosing these small, positive actions, you not only improve your own mood but also you become a source of calm and joy for others. In this way, instead of absorbing negative energy, you transform and share it, contributing to a kinder world, one small, powerful act at a time

What we unconsciously absorb, we bring it to the world by affecting our mood and those around us, this can affect the entire universe, it all becomes a ripple effect, I propose you change the world one happy feeling, one conscious thought at a time, make this a practice and observe your world change.

To stay focused, practice awareness in the present moment

"The only moment we are guaranteed is right now. The past is a memory, and the future is a maybe."

Fun Journaling inspiration to play!

Who doesn't love the beach ? 🏖️🤩  Let's  create something with those colors that remind us of it!  The smell of ocean and the warmth of the sun, lying on the sand care free, simply enjoying and letting it all go, that's the feeling we are looking for to embrace and replicate, do you feel like jumping into a splash of colors and a breeze of creativity to have fun?  Let's do it!

Here is a simple color palette in my journal for inspiration.  I love those colors and reminds me of the sand, ocean and the sun ☀️

Beach Day Color Palette

Created in a 5.5'' x 8'' watercolor journal

  1. Burnt Sienna – Warm sand between your toes, sun-kissed and earthy.
  2. Yellow Ochre 🎨 – Golden rays of sunshine, bright and cheerful.
  3. Sap Green – Lush palm leaves swaying in the ocean breeze.
  4. Sap Green + Cerulean Blue – Where the sea meets the shore, a dreamy turquoise wave.
  5. Cerulean Blue – Clear summer skies and sparkling ocean water.
  6. Indian Yellow – Sunset glow on the horizon, rich and vibrant.
  7. Gold Acrylic – Shimmering seashells and glints of treasure in the sand.
  8. White Gel Pen – Foamy surf and seaspray highlights.
  9. Black Gel Pen – Outlines, shadows, and the details that make your beach scene pop!

Use what you have and/or create your own color palette, this is also part of the fun! 🤩 🎨

I share with you a visual step by step process followed by more inspiration,...in Spanish, Caballito de Mar, a purple sea horse, they bring my soul pure tenderness. 🥰

** Fotos from a visit to the Aquarium in San Diego **

Ocean purpose

Where cerulean waters softly sway,

and azure deepness in sunlight play,

the seahorse, shy in tints of purpose,

finds truth in the depths of Love.

"In the delicate dance of the ocean's currents, the seahorse reminds us that beauty and wonder can be found in the most unexpected and graceful forms."

The State of Love

Love is your origin, your path, and your destiny. It’s the very essence of your being—the spirit's ride, an inner journey that guides you home.

But how do we truly live from this place of love?

It starts with self-love, a conscious commitment to yourself. This isn't just about pampering; it's about connecting with your own inner world through acts of creation and reflection. When you paint, meditate, or engage in any creative flow, you're not just making art—you're nurturing your soul. This is how you develop, recreate, and rediscover yourself.

As you cultivate this deep love for who you are, you become a beacon of light for both yourself and those around you. The love you generate consciously within yourself overflows, becoming true empathy and compassion for others.

This is the most powerful gift you can give the world: a love that radiates from within. By filling your own cup first, you're able to share from a place of abundance, influencing everyone you meet with genuine warmth and kindness.

Thank you for being here, you are truly appreciated 🥰 Namaste! 🙏🏻✨

The dream of the universe

Are We But a Dream? Unraveling the Mystery of Existence and Enlightenment

"We are but a dream of the universe." This profound statement, echoed by many ancient wisdom traditions and modern spiritual teachers, invites us to contemplate the very nature of our existence. If enlightenment is akin to "waking from a dream," as many ascended masters suggest, then a captivating question arises: Who, or what, is the dreamer? And what exactly does it mean to awaken?

For centuries, humanity has grappled with the concept of a unifying force behind all creation. Whether we refer to it as the Higher SelfGodSource, or the Universe itself, these names often point to the same boundless, intelligent energy from which everything originates. It's possible these seemingly distinct labels are simply different facets or frequencies of this singular, divine essence – a universal consciousness that manifests in myriad forms. Our individual connection to this source might lead us to resonate with one name over another, yet ultimately, we are all referencing the same great creator.

For your art journal or art inspiration!

But if we are indeed part of a grand cosmic dream, what would it be like to "wake up"? Enlightenment isn't merely an intellectual understanding; it's often described as a radical shift in perception, a profound knowing that transcends the limitations of the ego and the material world. It could involve:

  • A dissolution of the illusion of separation: Recognizing our inherent interconnectedness with all beings and the universe itself. The feeling of being a solitary drop in the ocean gives way to the realization that we are the entire ocean in a drop.

  • An experience of pure consciousness: Moving beyond the constant chatter of the mind and ego to a state of profound peace, clarity, and boundless awareness.

  • The unveiling of our true nature: Discovering the infinite potential, unconditional love, and innate wisdom that lies within us, free from the conditioning of societal norms and personal history.

  • Living in alignment with universal flow: Effortlessly navigating life with grace and purpose, guided by an inner knowing rather than external pressures.

Perhaps the "dreamer" is this very universal consciousness, and our individual lives are its intricate, diverse, and evolving expressions. To awaken, then, would be to fully realize our part in this magnificent cosmic dance – not as separate entities, but as integral, conscious aspects of the dream itself, now lucidly aware of its vastness and our own inherent divinity.

What are your thoughts on this cosmic dream? Have you ever had moments where you felt a deeper connection to something beyond yourself?

Art Journal Prompt: Stardust Soul

Inspiration board!

"We are made of stars." This profound idea connects us directly to the cosmic dance of creation. For this journal page, let's explore what it feels like to be made of stardust.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it 😀 :

Create a journal page that visually represents your connection to the cosmos. Think about:

  • Colors and textures: What do stars feel like? What colors do you associate with galaxies, nebulae, or the night sky? Experiment with glitter, metallic paints, textured papers, or even tiny sequins to evoke sparkle and depth.
  • Imagery: Do you see yourself as a tiny galaxy? Are there constellations forming within you? Perhaps a cosmic swirl of energy or planets orbiting your heart? Consider incorporating celestial bodies, abstract starbursts, or even microscopic views of atoms that hint at their stellar origins.
  • Words and feelings: How does this idea make you feel? Write down words like "awe," "infinite," "connected," "ancient," "radiant," or "potential." You might include the quote "We are made of stars" prominently, or other short phrases that come to mind.
  • Your unique spin: This isn't about scientific accuracy, but about personal interpretation. What does your "stardust soul" look like?
Here I share my own interpretation, to inspire you!  Scroll down for a second option!

Let your imagination wander through the universe and bring that cosmic magic to your page!

What kind of materials do you have ready for your journal, here is the idea for mine, you may try the same.

That's an fantastic set of materials to work with for a "Stardust Soul" art journal page! You've got a lot of versatility there. Here's what I suggest for combining them to bring that prompt to life:

General Approach:

  • Layering is Key: Art journals thrive on layers. Don't be afraid to build up your page with different materials.
  • Embrace Imperfection: It's an art journal, not a masterpiece for display. Enjoy the process and let happy accidents happen.
  • Abstract & Interpretive: The "made of stars" theme lends itself beautifully to abstract interpretations, so don't feel limited by realistic depictions.

Specific Suggestions for Your Materials:

Watercolors:

Cosmic Backgrounds: This is your primary tool for creating ethereal, swirling, galaxy-like backgrounds.

Wet-on-Wet: Lay down a wash of water first, then drop in different colors (blues, purples, black, deep reds, even a touch of yellow or green) and let them blend organically. This creates beautiful, unpredictable nebulous effects.

Splattering: Once your background is slightly dry, load a brush with white or metallic watercolor (or even white acrylic paint thinned with water) and tap it over your page to create "stars.

Bleeding Edges: If you're doing a human form, consider painting it loosely so the colors subtly bleed into the background, making it feel integrated with the cosmos.

Transparency: Watercolors are naturally translucent, which is perfect for representing the light and ephemeral quality of stardust.

  1. Papers for Collage:

    • Textural Elements: Look for papers with interesting textures – old book pages, sheet music, patterned paper, tissue paper, even bits of packaging. These can add a tactile dimension to your "universe."
    • Defining Shapes: You could cut out shapes of a human silhouette, planets, stars, or abstract forms from your collage papers.
      • Contrasting Tones: Place dark papers over light watercolor backgrounds, or vice versa, to create depth.
      • Tearing vs. Cutting: Tearing papers can give a softer, more organic edge, while cutting offers crispness.
    • Words & Meaning: If you have old book pages or newspaper, you could tear out words or phrases that resonate with "stars," "magic," "universe," "soul," etc., and collage them onto your page.
    • Layer under/over paint: Glue down some collage papers before you paint with watercolors, allowing the paint to wash over them, or glue them after for more distinct layers.

Check my Pinterest wall about collage sheets and pick your favorite to work with for the project!

  1. Sewing Materials: This is where it gets really interesting and adds a unique tactile element!

    • Stitched "Constellations": Use embroidery floss (metallic or glow-in-the-dark would be amazing!) to sew small "stars" or connect points to form simple constellations on your page.
    • Textural Outlines: Outline a human form or a cosmic swirl with running stitches. This adds definition and a handcrafted feel.
    • Fabric Scraps for Texture: If you have small, thin fabric scraps (like tulle, lace, or silk), you could glue them down for added cosmic texture or a veil-like effect.
    • Thread as "Trails": Drape or glue down strands of thread to represent shooting stars or comet trails.
    • Beads/Sequins (if you have them): A few small beads or sequins stitched on could truly be your "sparkles of magic" or tiny planets.

*Putting it Together (A Sample Flow):

Prep: Gesso your journal page if it's thin paper (to prevent buckling).

Background: Start with your watercolor washes to create a cosmic, nebulous base. Let it dry partially or fully.

Collage Foundation: Add larger pieces of collage paper – maybe a muted background texture, or a torn silhouette shape.

Details & Layers:Add more watercolor layers or splatters for stars.Begin to incorporate smaller collage elements – perhaps words, or cut-out stars/planets.Start your stitching! Add embroidered stars, outlines, or thread trails.

Refine: Add any final details with pens (gel pens, metallic markers for highlights), more splatters, or even small sewn-on embellishments.

Have so much fun with this! It's a wonderful opportunity to combine different art forms and express a beautiful concept.

Namaste 🙏🏻 I am grateful to be able to share all this with you, may it help you somehow in your own journey, thank you for being here, you are loved and appreciated 🥰

The higher mind meditation

Life is a journey that is forever unfolding, We are life, we are forever unfolding.

Beautiful Music for your heart

Take a deep Journey to Inner Truth

We all find ourselves at different stages of understanding the profound truth of who we are and what our existence entails. When one is ready to confront their truth, they embark on this journey like a warrior of light, seeking clarity and enlightenment.

The Quest for Communion with the Divine

Many of us ponder the nature of our communion with God. Engaging in individual sessions of connection with the spirit is essential—this can be achieved through prayer or meditation. Taking time in solitude to turn inward allows you to establish your own connection to truth and spirit, which serves as your true guidance.

Are You Ready for This Path?

A key indicator of your readiness is your genuine interest in spirituality. If you find yourself drawn to information—whether it be books, music, or teachings—that resonate with your inner self, and you feel a desire to delve deeper and understand more, this is a powerful sign.

Conversely, if you feel easily bored or disinterested, it’s perfectly natural to gravitate toward what truly captivates you. Not everyone experiences an inner calling from the spirit, and that is completely acceptable.

Understanding Spirituality

Spirituality is fundamentally about connecting with your spirit. Through this connection, you will come to realize that there is only one spirit: your higher self. The higher realm, often referred to as God, embodies the same spirit but exists at different levels of consciousness. God has infused its consciousness into countless fragments, each of which constitutes who we are.

Communion with God is always accessible because it is, in essence, you connecting with your higher self at a different frequency of energy. Engaging in this connection consciously will awaken you to a deeper level of understanding. God embodies pure, unconditional love. When you vibrate at that frequency, you become one with it—until you choose otherwise.

To truly embody unconditional love, you must consciously sustain it. You hold the key to maintaining your inner frequency and conscious state, as you are always exercising your free will.

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."    Nikola Tesla

Now think of this in your self.  How are you this energy, frequency and vibration?

Navigating Distractions

It’s important to recognize that distractions can easily divert you from maintaining your inner state. While I don’t believe that discipline needs to be overly rigid, it’s crucial to remain aware of the myriad distractions in the world that can lead you astray. A strong will and self-imposed discipline can guide you on your spiritual journey, helping you stay aligned with your true path.

Embrace the journey of spirituality as a means to uncover your inner truth, and allow the light within you to shine brightly.

Important questions to ask your self.

Where do you want to be wiser? Where do you refuse to grow up?

     The ego mind

The ego mind represents what we have learned we are—who we believe we are. Simply put, the ego consists of the beliefs that shape your mind and influence your reactions to the world. By quieting the mind, you can free yourself from these beliefs. In silence, when you align with true love that comes from connecting to the source, you become one with God again.

You have always been that same source, but the ego mind keeps it hidden behind its curtains of beliefs until you are ready to confront your true self and begin the cleansing of your mind and heart.

The ego keeps the source and our true frequency veiled, diverting our attention to the world and its myriad distractions. Especially if we focus on fear, nothing will distance us further from the truth than fear itself. Our free will allows us to choose where we want to be and what we want to become. Until we choose to embody love, we will not experience it.

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.  Carl Jung

How could you purify your heart in a way that stays pure and endures the tests that come from living in this world?  It is a constant work to keep yourself in harmony, it has to be a discipline to observe yourself and improve your frequency or inner state.

"The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it. In the end, the ego is the one that suffers." -Eckhart Tolle

Many mystics have traversed their spiritual journeys and shared the wisdom they acquired along the way. However, this knowledge will remain elusive unless you actively engage in your own exploration. Merely listening will not suffice; without personal experience, you may perceive it as a myth—something distant and unattainable.

If you begin your journey now, you will discover that your path is unique yet closely aligned with those who have guided us. Embrace the insights they have offered, and recognize that your understanding contributes to the greater whole. When you share your experiences, you enrich the collective wisdom of all.

For this painting, I used mixed media paper, watercolors, white pen and golden acrylic paint, this painting was inspired by an older work created with acrylics.

Final piece, watercolor and acrylics on paper by Monica Zuniga.

Thank you for being here, your presence is deeply appreciated. Namaste 🙏🏻

The Cosmic Heart: A Journey Within

Dive deep into your heart

The concept of the "cosmic heart" invites us to explore the profound depths of our inner selves, where truth, potential, and healing reside. This metaphorical heart serves as a gateway to understanding our existence and the universe around us.

The Heart as a Reflection of Truth

This notion emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and authenticity. When we take the time to look inward, we can uncover the layers of our identity, revealing the essence of who we are. The heart, in this context, becomes a mirror that reflects our genuine selves, free from societal expectations and external influences.

An Ocean of Possibilities

The imagery of an "ocean of endless possibilities" highlights the vast potential that lies within each of us. Just as the ocean is deep and expansive, so too are our capabilities and dreams. This theme encourages us to embrace our creativity and explore the myriad paths available to us. By acknowledging the light that is yet to be revealed, we open ourselves to new experiences and opportunities for growth.

My Art Journal Page: A Journey of Creativity and Self-Discovery

In the past, I dedicated myself to creating a page a day, fueled by the excitement of completing each piece. This relentless drive became my creative fire, pushing me to work non-stop. I initially gravitated towards acrylics for their quick-drying properties and their ability to cover unwanted elements—almost like an artistic eraser. However, I have recently fallen in love with watercolors again. Their unique qualities have captivated me, and I am beginning to understand their nuances. Coupling watercolors with pen drawings adds a delightful texture to my pages, making the creative process even more enjoyable.

Working with watercolors has taught me the value of patience. I’ve learned to wait for the paint to dry and to observe the beautiful transformations that occur during the process. To expedite this, I’ve started using an embossing tool, which allows me to maintain my momentum while creating.

Art journaling is more than just a creative outlet; it is a meditative practice that helps quiet the mind and fosters a deep focus on creativity and enjoyment. I find myself lost in the vibrant colors and the themes that emerge, feeling a profound connection to a spiritual source during the process. For me, any activity can become a meditative experience. I also engage in crochet, clay sculpting, and various other creative pursuits. Being an artist is not confined to a single label, such as "painter." It is a way of being that permeates every aspect of my life. Even walking can be an art form, reminding me of my days in modeling and illustrating how we can be a constant work of art, continuously evolving in every facet of ourselves. We are infinite beings, perpetually developing, and it is essential to do so consciously.

The heart is where we reside, where our emotions and daily feelings take shape. It is crucial to elevate our emotional awareness to a conscious level. Many people have not been taught to observe their feelings or to understand that they can influence them. Most individuals I know believe that their emotions simply happen to them, as if they have no control over their own hearts.

I am here to share an empowering truth: you are the commander of your heart. Embrace this role and take charge of your emotional landscape. Through creative expression and mindful observation, you can transform your experiences and cultivate a deeper connection with yourself.

Lead with a Heart Full of Love

Love is a word that is often used in various contexts, and at times, it seems to have lost its true essence. It is our responsibility to delve deeper into the meaning of love and to refresh our understanding through our own experiences.

True love, as embodied by the divine, is unconditional and available to everyone.

As humans, we must strive to comprehend what this means. The cosmic heart invites us to reflect a higher form of love in our world—one that embraces all beings and encourages us to evolve toward this vision.

Take the time to work on your heart. Pay attention to your feelings, observe them, and allow yourself to grow. This is where you truly reside.

Thank you for being part of this, I appreciate you! 💖

El arte de sacar punta

Today I also want to write in my own language, Spanish, as every
language it is hard to understand if you didn´t grow up
speaking it, it has very long words and sometimes they can mean
more that one thing for having a special flavor depending on the context.

I hope you like it, you can use translator to get a close meaning of
the words but I know it won´t be the same.

I am Mexican, I share this in case you haven´t yet know.

You Know, Mexicans are before anything humans, we also have a soul,
a life to go through and the doubts this implies and the fears as well
and we are also special and unique as avery other human in this world,
we love life deeply and we help those in need if we can,
we care and yes, we still have much to learn and we are doing it, we are
many and we are diverse, some of us are happy and some of us are
frustrated just like in any other country in this world, we are part of
the world and the universe, that means we are part of evolution and of God.

God is love and love is all there is therefore nothing should
be seen as foreign we are all growing up to the level
of pure love one day at a time.

Thank you to those who respect the soul and see beyond the skin, and
what is true about being a human, let us hold each other in this journey
and share what is best of us and make of this life an amazing time
to discover and grow.

The use of the non dominant hand, an exercise to learn and find new
exciting paths to go to...

Now I use the dust of my water soluble sharpened pencils as a drawing medium.
