The master of soul is back on Modern Ruin. We’re talking about Sideswipe, of course, with his debut EP, Fracture Patterns.
Last Nite features a trademark Sideswipe groove, complimented by tasteful sampling of a classic. BSN Posse’s remix injects some breakbeats and swagger while maintaining parity with the original.
Fracture Patterns takes it back, ably supported by more breakbeats, a haunting vocal and a warm melody. Lefty and Nikes take no prisoners with their remix, turning the sample into the core of a halftime expedition designed to set the dance floor on fire.
B4 U Lock Ur Love harks back to the golden days of soul, while paying tribute to footwork sampling - designed for the feet. Right on cue, Teklife’s DJ Tre comes through with a heavy remix, down pitching the original sample and creating a grimy footwork stepper.
