Title track ‘Guardian of My Mind,’ employs a bold lead, soul infused gospel samples and perfectly syncopated percussion to match. Fans of Robert Hood’s melodic minimalism will feel right at home with the skillfully crafted upbeat simplicity of ‘Universal Crisis’ and ‘You Were Right’. Finally, ‘Aurora’ shows Weets to be a proponent of the Detroit way of doing things: full-bodied and funky and fondly reminds us of his choice ‘Stellar Orchestra’ album from 2014.
