Very few artists enjoy a breakout at 16 years old and fewer sustain the kind of momentum Muyeez gained from 2024’s “Instagram”. The song opened doors for collaborations with icons like Olamide and Burna Boy (among others), fostering the sort of unprecedented apprenticeship that only the crème de la crème of Afropop talents have known. Balancing technical proficiency with a specific kind of chest-thumping bravado, Muyeez brings it all to bear on his inventive full-length debut, All Hail Muyeez. He’s young enough to think himself invincible, and All Hail Muyeez explores the breadth of that belief. “Yeah, I make money, I’m a star,” he croons on “MLM”, reeling off some of the currencies he’s earning in. On “Hero”, he’s laying down the facts that make him an inspiration for peers and listeners. “Location” is a supercharged flex of the lifestyle that all of his success allows him. Just as larrylanes helped Muyeez’s mentor Seyi Vibez figure out the sonic architecture for 2025’s FUJI MOTO, the producer’s fingerprints are all over All Hail Muyeez, pulling reference points from soul, Afrobeat and EDM. The benefits of the partnership are all too evident on gems like the Fuji-inflected “Water”, which interpolates lyrics from Fela Kuti’s iconic “Water No Get Enemy”, as well as “Standard”, an emotive glimpse into the journey that took Muyeez from Abuja hopeful to music star. Save for album closer “Bank Alert”, where he’s joined by Zerrydl, Ayo Maff and Famous Pluto, Muyeez is all alone on All Hail Muyeez, but things never get one-dimensional. The level of execution and talent we find across the project are what made him one of Afrobeats’ next great hopes, and that might be enough for us to bend the knee.
