87K views · 1.4K reactions | ITS DIY FRIDAY!! I’ve been working on getting Summer ready in the garden! The flagstone patio is almost done, we have new furniture & I’ve been nurturing the flower beds! The intention is to create an outdoor room to enjoy on the Summer nights, so for DIY FRIDAY I made some stylish concrete candle holders & filled them with citronella scented wax to keep the bugs away! What you need: 2 sizes of yogurt pot/small plant pot for inner Sunflower oil Cling film Tin foil White cement (Hanson from Amazon) Building sand Bucket & mixer drill bit Wood candle wicks (Amazon) Soy wax (Amazon) Citronella oil Double boiler Tips: -Mix 4 parts concrete to 1 part sand with enough water to make a cake like consistency. -Use sunflower oil to coat the inside of the outer pot & outer of the inside pot. -I used a small plant pot for the inner size & wrapped with clingfilm so the concrete didn’t go through the holes. -Use tin foil to protect the sides of the pot when pouring the wax. -Use a double boiler to melt the wax. -Tap sides of the pot to get rid of any air bubbles in the hot wax. I have joined my friends to bring you lots of home diy projects! Be sure to check out what they have been up to! 🍋 @deevine.home.creations 🍋 @rekindledsigns 🍋 @houseonheatherfield 🍋 @eleanorrosehome 🍋 @vintageandgraceliving 🍋 @le.cultivateur . . . . #cottagestyle #mycottagefarmhouse #inspohome #thisishome #howihome #diyhome #concretedecor #diyreel #diyreels #diytutorial #diytutorials #diycandle #diycandles #citronella #citronellacandles #concretecandle #concretecandles #concreteproducts #concretelove #backyarddesign #backyardoasis #backgarden #summerdecoration #summerpatio #patioinspo #patioinspiration #summerinspo #flagstone #flagstonepatio #homediyproject Concrete / Candles / diy / Home projects / Home decor / Summer ideas / Backyard ideas / Patio / Flagstones / diy home | Making Home matter | Facebook

5.5K views · 1.3K reactions | Painted fabric - did you know you can paint fabric with chalk paint?! 🤍 I mixed Cream Dream and a dash of Salt of the Earth in a 50/50 ration with fabric conditioner. I also mixed 50/50 water and fabric conditioner in a spray bottle to dampen the fabric first. I used my brush to really push the paint into the fibres rather than letting it sit on there like you would with furniture. I allowed the paint 24 hours between coats to dry fully and gave it a light scuff sand with a 240 grit sandpaper just to loosen the fibres slightly. Once it was fully dry I sealed it with Clear Wax, waited 5 min before buffing it off What do you think? Would you give it a go? Please note: this is just something I’ve personally experimented with and not something that Frenchic actively recommends as a suitable project for their products. brand ambassador @frenchicpaint #diy #paintedfurniture #upcycling #upcycle #upcycled #upcycledfurniture #preloved #diyhomedecor #upholstery #upholsteredchair #furnitureflip #furnituremakeover #frenchicpaint #frenchicfanforum | Abi Hugo | Interiors, Upcycling & DIY

3.2K views · 366 reactions | Saying goodbye to 90s orange with this 4 step process. The absolute hardest and worst step is the first one… removing the existing finish. I did a combination of sanding and using a chemical stripper. Up next is 2 part bleach. Follow the directions, wear gloves and after 24 hours wipe down with 1:1 water and vinegar combo. You might be tempted to go ahead and topcoat but let me tell you, your piece will turn yellow. Third step is using a paint wash. I like to water down my paint significantly and if needed I do multiple coats. Last step is applying water based topcoat! What questions do you have? I’m happy to help! ☺️ | Leslie Jarrett | LJ Designs Co
