The flammeum was the bride’s rectangular veil which left her face uncovered. The word flammeum was linked with the word flamma (flame), so some believe the wedding veil was flame colored. You can also see the nodus herculaneum (the Herculean knot) and the tunica rectum. The bride is dressed in the tunica rectum, which was a robe of pure white tied by a woolen belt, on the wedding day.
