Small brain readers, beware.

The Manga gets too technical MOST OF THE TIME. The topic sometimes delves into scientific fields, programming, even as far as unraveling fictional concepts using scientific methods. Just the wall of texts and the dialogues would bore anyone who can't sit through a meeting just as much.

Enough with that, the manga did a good job in making/designing their characters. Their personality is solid but flaws are still there making them feel alive. The world setting is also fleshed out; the world is on their road to exploring everything new that the world is opening slowly but steadily unlike other modern fantasy where ...

tl;dr - You can skip this one, there's nothing particularly unique about it.

This book had me interested in the synopsis, but it didn't hold up. Maybe my expectations were too high? It mentioned detective work, so I was expecting to think a bit while reading, but it just played out as a standard fantasy adventure with a detective coat of paint on it and a grand reveal about 75% of the way through. Looking at the MAL page, I notice a distinct lack of "detective" tag, so maybe that's on me.

The girls are likable, but not enough to carry the story. Think of it as ...

In my mind, the media that deserve the lowest scores aren't the ones that flaunt themselves as trash; they set out to be terrible, banking on either raging people into engagement or keeping them entertained with shameless brain rot. No, the works that deserve the lowest scores are the ones that set out to be good, and come out lacking.

That may sound like a dramatic introduction for this manga, but that's exactly how I feel about it: what seemed like such a promising and adorable premise quickly began to churn out chapter after chapter of the same gags, the same panels, the same "ooo look ...

Kuso Onna ni Sachi Are is a prime example of why I sometimes absolutely hate the way the manga industry is set up.

Here's what I mean by that: the story starts out with a bombshell allegation: Lemon betrayed the protagonist, her middle-school boyfriend, with a shocking confession that consequently dismantled their entire relationship, including their friendship. But as fate would have it, a sudden and mysterious body-swap forces the two back into regular contact, and the story goes from there.

Like every other person in this godforsaken, poorly regulated, hyper-competitive industry, the author reverted to a congeries of tired tropes in order to get their story ...

While many reviews have already been left for this b a n g e r of a manga, mine has the advantage of coming near the end of Part 2, and so I'll be taking that into account here (spoiler free, obviously). And unlike the top posts, I'll keep my analysis relatively brief so that potentially interested readers don't have to sift through a novel in order to figure out whether this manga is worth a try.

Like every manga Fujimoto has ever put out (and I would know, given that I've read his entire output as of writing this - except for Look Back, in ...

This is a tough read. Tons of random techno babble dialogue that will put you to sleep. None of the characters are likable or engaging. There is some light action, light comedy, but that's about it. It's confusing to me what the intention of this series was. It's not a crime thriller. There's no mystery or suspense. No deep scifi themes. It's just random VR hacking with occasional fighting. They keep throwing more and more characters on screen as if a large cast is going to change anything. Visually it's just grey on grey which isn't interesting. Overall there is not much to recommend about ...

This manhwa is based off a novel called Dirty XX, which I have not read. Some people in the BL community have said the novel differs from the manhwa quite a bit, concerning levels of toxicity and certain perceptions the audience might have regarding the seme’s behavior. Either way, still a very toxic ass BL.

Only those who are into hardcore stories will enjoy this manhwa. But I’ve heard the novel is less horrific and some of the more dark psychological elements at play are toned down a bit. So reading that instead might be more appropriate for the squeamish, because the fact is: this ...

Not truly a review, I won't waste time going through all. This manga is meh at best, mostly sht.

Yes, some cute moment and build-ups, but just "some". The rest of 95% (or more) is about nonsense. Talking their thoughts out loud, so that someone else can hear and plot devices can occur. Almost every page has at least a blushing or a "DA-DOOM" scene, to give the illusion that stuff happens all around, either romance, or drama. Cheap tricks.

So why is it bad, in very few words? Basically, characters take dumb decisions to keep the story going longer, or have insane intuition and the scene ...

I don't know how can someone read this manga and actually claim that they liked it. Basically the author decided to ran it down after where the anime left, we are reading Nike getting along well with everyone (including villains who kidnapped her and literally tried to rape her as well) but somehow having lack of empathy towards Livius.

The reader is stuck in the loop of events that I've described above, she will get kidnapped and saved until the author decides it's enough and concludes the series in the worst possible way with a ridiculously paced, rushed ending that makes you go "what the ...

Preliminary (38/? chp)
MAD is a manga that starts off strong, almost to the point that it feels like it caught the author off-guard and they had to scramble to create a coherent story beyond the initial premise. I'm currently thirty-eight chapters in (up to date with the manga as of writing), and it only just now feels like the author is getting around to establishing the major conflicts and antagonists that will define the rest of the series.

The characters are good, if a little bland. MAD is at its best when people are put up against the wall and are forced to act: in those moments we ...

At first glance, 7-kakan Gentei Kanojo seems exactly like any other in its genre: a low-brow romcom that hinges on a single idea (a seven day girlfriend) that inevitably serves as a vehicle for the true star of the show - the horny chapters. Luckily, the author rapidly dispels this initial impression with characters that have distinct personalities, a sense of inner conflict, and an understanding that their actions have meaningful weight and consequence. By the time the second volume really starting expanding the story's lore and character backgrounds, I was sold!

The Yuri genre has yet to truly break into the mainstream, which is a ...

Vagabond is PEAK storytelling: complex characters that drive the plot (and not the other way around), which is itself saturated with themes of life, death, sacrifice, ambition, identity, and more. Slap on the fact that it's a historical fiction, contains art work that makes most manga look like children's crayon scribbling, is equal parts hilarious and thrilling, and is written and drawn by one of the titans of the manga industry, and you've got yourself a certified 10/10.

What I love most about Vagabond, however, is the author's willingness to have his characters change, sometimes in dramatic fashion. There is almost nothing worse than stumbling upon ...

The story of this manga contains a mix of predictable situations but also unpredictable outcomes from the characters.
It's a great manga for people who enjoy medieval-style settings.
The art-style fits the story, it perfectly shows the expressions of the characters as well as the vibe of certain moments.
The characters are lively, a mix of predictable and unpredictable, understandable and relatable. Though some characters are considered "Smart" they still have moments where they can't figure it all out, which adds a layer of realism to the story.
The characters have realistic reactions to certain situations or actions which I enjoyed.
Although it may not be for everyone, romance ...

A largely disappointing collection. Having read ""Toutosugite Yomenaaaaaaai!!" 4P Short Stories" (I also left a review for that one), I was eager for another set of romance-themed short stories to entertain myself with while waiting in line at the grocery store or just before bed (or when I was procrastinating a more important task).

Unfortunately, a majority of the stories are at best low effort, and at worst, barely make any sense. I'll admit that a few pages isn't much time for character development and plot, but that's kind of the whole point of the format: it's a way for budding authors to practice the basics ...

22-26 is not only an absolutely bonkers collection of memorable, creative, and off-the-wall short stories, but the volume is also essential reading for any Fujimoto fan due to its impact on later works: Firepunch, Look Back, and in particular Chainsaw Man all draw from this period of Fujimoto's career. And as far as lore goes, his fish confession at the end of the volume is a hilarious and terrifying reminder of why Fujimoto continues to be one of the most inventive and unpredictable writers in the industry.

Of the four stories, "Nayuta of the Prophecy" is easily the best of the bunch, though I also ...

17-21 is classic Fujimoto: a work of creative insanity that still somehow manages to provide the reader with engaging character work and heartfelt storytelling. Of the collected stories, "A Couple Clucking Chickens Were Still Kickin' in the Schoolyard" and "Love is Blind" are notably superior compared to the remaining two - but seeing as you can finish off the whole volume in an afternoon, it's still well worth your time to read them all.

That said, I think that 22-26 is the stronger of the two one-shot collections. For that reason I recommend reading this set before 22-26, which is probably what you want to ...

I am honored to be the first person to leave a review for this webtoon! In the world of romcom, there are many different flavors: there's the intellectual, banter-heavy style of Kaguya-sama, the episodic "couple surrounded by friend group" structure of Komi Can't Communicate, the mostly horny but also cute antics of My Dress-Up Darling, and so on.

Super Secret is, in my opion, a blend of The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity's adorable, slowburn love story that hits all the right notes and (to an extent) Dandadan's mixture of innocent young love with zany, high-stakes action that keeps the tension going. Super Secret's writing and ...

Siren wa Kimi ni Utawanai is a manga that wears its heart on its sleeve... at least it did, until about 3/4 of the way through when the tone of the story suddenly pivots and tries to incorporate thriller elements and even a bit of horror into its unabasedly kawaii romcom foundation. Unfortunately the author, in an attempt to balance all three at once, fails to commit himself in any of these directions, and the result is a story that loses the thread and tries to make up for its lack of cohesion with some abrupt fan service, all before closing with an equally hasty ...

Story-wise, it's nothing amazing, and the art can be a hit or miss, but it's definitely an interesting and surprisingly wholesome read.

Conceptually, the premise is genuinely unique. So much so that I felt like re-reading it a second time at this time of review.

The author also made 8gatsu no Ghost, a very short manga I'm quite fond of. Similar execution issues: nothing groundbreaking in terms of narration, yet, once the story clicks, you start investing in the characters.

I'd say: don't force yourself, especially if it doesn't 'click' for you early on (whatever that could mean for you) then it's probably not worth your time, otherwise ...

The MAL word associated with a score of 6, "Fine," pretty much sums up this work perfectly: every short story is just a few pages long, and about a third of them are creative and capture your attention. The rest are your usual run-of-the-mill mix of character tropes, stereotypical situations, and expected kawaii artstyle. But, given that you can knock out the whole of it in an hour or two, none of this is particularly detrimental; it's simply a relaxing, somewhat interesting collection of cuteness that's well suited for when you're on a long bus ride or cozied up in bed with a snack.

TLDR: Cute ...

The manga is basically cultivation, but includes sci-fi (Meaning there's martial arts and AI implemented together). The main character is an old man(Cheon-ma) who is the strongest person and the leader of the Heavenly Demon Sect. He has been doing secluded cultivation underground in an abandoned planet 2000+ years ago, and the bounty hunters (Our other 3 main characters) explored the ancient planet and unknowingly dug up his tomb, which woke Cheon-ma from his slumber. The story has many sects that you would expect in a cultivation manhua, such as: The heavenly demon sect, ...

VR game slop with the laziest world-building I've ever seen. The author seems to forget his own story after the first chapter. All you need to know is that the MC is the greatest video game player of all time and he can defeat any monster with one kick. This is the depth of writing we are talking about here. Supposedly there are millions of players stuck in this game but nothing matters except the MC defeating monsters. Random players popup every chapter and get killed as a joke. Why is the MC not giving them information on how to survive? Why are people still ...

What was meant to be a random read became meaningful. The story is a simple as it gets, real life meet up between gamers. Development wise it's slow and steady, yet the romance does build up. Over a span of 200+ chapters, you witness character development with real changes. Where simple kindness, consideration, care, evolves into love from gradual feelings.

The most valuable aspect of this series, relies on the realistic setting. There are no hyper bole traits or events, and the characters are about as regular as anyone else. All you get is normal interactions which adds to the fine lining of the series. Even ...

Ajin is incredibly cool. It looks good, is fast paced. There is a gradual progression of stakes and tension. Its story is well written and thought out. However, Ajin is also incredibly generic.

There are no novel ideas, messages here. No well written characters really. Everyone is black and white, their arcs are linear, if they have any. I suppose Tosuke's character's the only one that has anything going on.

The story waves around some lofty thoughts about morality, society but none of these ideas are actually developed enough to say anything. The story doesn't really take a firm stance in any meaningful way. In the end ...

This one is a snoozefest. Predictable from the first chapter and only gets more generic. There are so many interesting things they could have done with the story and yet "find the drug dealers" is the best they can come up with. Instead of a compelling saga it feels more like a collection of cheesy side missions. The characters are far too simplistic and dull to really get invested in. I would describe it as purposely "safe" like it was thought up during a boardroom meeting. A few jokes. Light drama. Forgettable action with zero buildup. That's what you are getting with this series.

The premise really caught my attention, but after the five-year time jump, the plot started to rush.
Since birth, the FL had been segregated in the palace of the empress/deceased mother because of a prophecy that accused her of having to “absorb” her half-sister, born on the same day but from a different mother.
Based on this prophecy, her father and older brothers never paid any attention to her for 10 years, except for a few chance encounters with no real significance, but after ignoring her for all this time, they immediately start taking an interest in her.

"The 6th Loop: I'm Finally Free of Auto Mode in this Otome Game" is another entry in the (shockingly large) cluster of OI stories that fundamentally do not understand the story they are ACTUALLY telling. The description leaves the reader with some amount of expectations about how the story is set to go, and those expectations are absolutely not met. The story is at least well-written... until you stop and think about any part of it for longer than 10 seconds, at which point it all falls apart. Characters internal monologues will have a character come to a resolution about themselves that ...

Disappointing series. Everything is so nonsensical it makes it a chore to read. You know the MC is going to say or do something stupid in every scene, and all the characters are forced to accept it because he's the MC. Why they gave the MC the personality of a bratty kid I have no idea. They want us to believe this is a brutal blood and guts world where anyone can die at any moment and yet we have cute magical squirrels saving the day like a Disney film. Everything else is standard for the genre and doesn't leave much of an impression.

Simply a cute collection of the extra Death Note material released over the series' initial run. It helps that the cover's illustration looks nice as well. Overall, It was an enjoyable read.

The stand out for most is going to be the a-Kira one shot. I've reread it at least 3 times at this point (once when it initially released), it's been good every time. An honorable mention to the Taro Kagami short story as well; it's the most lighthearted of the bunch (by Death Note standards), and a fun show of a Death Note user less "wise" than Light was.

I really don’t know how this isn’t more famous , it’s so underrated. The story isn’t complex; it’s mainly for people who enjoy pure romance and light-hearted vibes. The female lead is truly unique: she’s goofy, yet she knows when to be serious, and her positivity is amazing.
The art is great and fits the tone of the story perfectly, and the plot matches its simple but well-written premise. Each character stands out, unlike the usual one-note otome personalities.

I didn't have high expectations for the manga, but it surprised me.

It's very well written; the character development and the layers behind the story are even better than in the anime.

The illustration is also very good, completely uncensored, which brings more life to the story; the details, each panel, and the body shapes are perfect.

In fact, it's almost identical to the anime, but it shows many layers that we don't see in the anime, things that weren't explained. I really liked it; the last chapter is extremely vivid, we can almost feel the overwhelming will of the protagonists, it closes the arc perfectly.

Seven genius high schoolers get isekai'd into a new world. A brutalist world and to pay back the kind people who saved them. They have to institute reforms and that spirals up and up.

I liked the story. I think the manga does a good job with such a massive main cast. That said of the seven prodigies I'd say over half are utilized but not all. We have a soldier, a doctor, a magician, an inventor, a merchant, a politician, and a ninja. Alone any one of them would be interesting. It’s a purely amateur work, with very little originality, everything has already been done a hundred times.

It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. Some people should stop overrating things on MAL, everything is completely unbalanced, and it always comes from the same type of people, on the same type of works, which are always far from actually being good.

I normally never write reviews, but I’m tired of seeing non-Japanese works on this site, and on top of that they’re completely overrated.

This is one of those manga that only find its footing about 20-30 chapters in, and gets a lot better the longer it runs. In case you are not convinced by the starting stories, I would implore you to keep on reading, it truly gets more interesting later.

As a premise, which is detailed in the first chapter, none of the inhabitants of this world can truly die, which allows for quite some creativity in terms of storytelling, which gets expanded a lot later on (I would say starting chapter 50). It is definitely very gory and brutal, all people in this world are basically sinners, ...

I don't usually bother with reviews—honestly, it's a pain—but after scribbling down my mixed thoughts on Chainsaw Man, I felt compelled to shout out Dorohedoro. These two share a similar media vibe: I jumped into both early on thanks to recommendations, back when they were still building buzz. But where Chainsaw Man left me baffled by the hype, Dorohedoro hit me like a revelation. This is straight-up genius literary fantasy manga.

What sets it apart is how it's *literarily* insane. On the surface, it's pure chaos—crocodile-headed amnesiacs, mushroom magic, interdimensional weirdness—but underneath, everything operates by these intricate, consistent rules. As a reader, you have to engage ...

I jumped on Chainsaw Man literally from chapter 1 when it was still a weekly Shonen Jump rookie. Everyone around me kept saying “bro, this is the next big thing, trust me,” so I stuck with it. For the first 30-40 chapters it was… fine? Like, solid 6-7/10 weekly read: the action was raw, the art was gritty and unique, the premise was batshit insane in a fun way. I didn’t particularly love Denji, I thought most side characters were one-note, the “horny teenage boy + trauma” humor got old fast, and the themes felt try-hard edgy half the time, but it was entertaining enough ...

Stunningly beautiful fairy tale about shadow monster living with a little girl. I hear comparisons to The Ancient Magus's Bride in terms of the concept, but from what I've seen of that any similarities are mostly surface level, so don't go into this expecting anything like that. Has one of the best art styles I've seen in a manga - very strong use of negative space and nails the story book vibe perfectly, giving the whole thing a darker atmosphere, but I'd hesitate to call this a dark fantasy, since the actual themes and subject matter tends to be a bit more on the wholesome ...

It’s so peak, you HAVE TO give it a try!!!

The art is godly and jaw droppingly beautiful (honestly it’s def up in the top 5 most beautiful art styles I’ve ever seen in manhwa) and what especially caught my eye is how AMAZING the artist draws explicit scenes, the intimacy and lust that can physically be felt by the way the main characters look at each other, as well as their body language and facial expressions is out of this world!

Even though it may start off as strange, and some people may be filtered by the "kinky" atmosphere which sets off the narration, i can guarantee there's much more that meets the eye.

To me, this story resembles the bitterness of loving someone so much that you come to hate them - and hating them so much just because you actually love them. Love is not always sugary sweet or gentle. It can be so self-serving and brutal. But peeling off all those tangy layers and voila! A tinge of tenderness emerges.

It's also a story about broken dreams and the cynical reality of working adults. I cannot help myself but tune in with Yesol when he was cussing the hell out of his bogged down life. Although I have somewhat made peace with unpleasant (but objectively bearable) experiences ...

Noisy Citrine: In which we learn why Kirika is so devoted to Oriko (a simple crush). I like Kirika, but I don't think she works as a lead character.
Symmetry Diamond: In which a crazy girl attacks Mitakihara. Maybe the problem isn't that Kirika doesn't work as a lead character, but that the characterization here just isn't very good. This new character is full of herself and makes crazy faces and that's about it. She uses witch familiars. Because of this, our magical girl cast can go all out because of the constant grief seeds, right? Cool! But this is a sort of prequel where ...

The manga starts off with him getting kicked out of his family because his 7 sisters and his mom thought he was talentless in a talented household, but in reality, he actually has so many op powers(Good at fighting, makeup, filming, manager, etc). The manga trope reminds me of those 3rd rate fantasy manga where the MC gets kicked out of the party, which is too cliché, which is also its main problem. Outside of that, the art is pretty good. Although I wished it showed more of the family's downfall, it focuses on the MC and has only shown how one of his sisters ...

Akama ga Kill is the benchmark of a good Shonen. It does every Shonen element well enough to find enjoyment: cool power system, solid themes, villain group, power ups, ect. Preliminary (100/162 chp)
I'll start off by saying I'm not huge on comedy focused manga, but Mashle was amazing. It sometimes masks it's world building and themes of oppression and discrimination through the comedy, so it's rare to get hit with huge exposition blocks as you subtly understand it's messaging. Mashle, having no magic, is clearly differently abled and his goal to become a divine visionary so he can earn his right to exist peacefully with his father is interesting.
