Catchup. - June 22nd-29th

June 22nd

Well I treated myself to supper at the Red Top and had the whole place to myself! Their Sunday hours are 9-9pm. Usually I go for a scrumptious late breakfast or a shared lunch of gyro or chicken fingers with the girls. The meals are huge and three of us don't finish the 1 order of fries! Today I had a 2 piece chicken dinner with tossed salad and again only ate 1 piece, the side salad and not even half the fries - the other piece and fries came home with me for tomorrow!!! I just might try the chicken dinner again! YUMMY!!!

June 23rd

Okay, now that I've regained some energy I went through the pile of clothes that again I'm sure I've not worn for a year or so. Some are summer capris and pants and those I'll try on first and decide if I'll wear them. Even a couple of black dress pants - all on smaller sizes. Now that I've room in my back closet, I can hang those up, if they are keepers! WOW there's lots going out the door soon.

June 24th

Ohhhh it feels wonderful to get this head of hot unruly hair tamed again! Just in time for my trip next month!!! Thank you Adele for making me cool and pretty again! 🥰

Used my hallway apartment mirror.

OMGG!!! I must be sick, NOT!!!

See today I went through my double wide dresser of tshirts and threw out 13 that were well worn, and the other half off for recycling. Also a drawer full of printed events tees that are humongous men's styles that I'll line up and take pics of the decals/embroidery and then donate them too. So now my tshirts n sweaters all fit in. That is except those that have printing on them, hung in the now roomy closet. Dang I could not believe the clothes in smaller sizes I found, no need to buy anymore.

June 25th

Slow start today but lovely Northern Lights Lace gathering, last till the fall! Then Boston Pizza lunch of shared chicken wings n salad with Edna then home to do some hand stitching. Sylvia wanted to do something for supper, I suggested Casino and she agreed. The only drawback is me leaving downtown in 4:15 rush hour traffic and construction, took an hour to Niakwa to pick her up. Supper was awesome taste and cost wise as both of us had discounts plus points further reducing the total. Then in to play some games and both of us came home with what we put in plus me $10 (not on the Gold Fish this time) and Sylvia $18 extra on two different Gold Fish. I like that mucho better playing 1.5 hours, breaking even and getting pocket change too!

June 26th

It was awesome to visit and have lunch with Ruth at the Southdale Village Family Restaurant today. Also I passed on some clothes to her to look over and return those not to her liking etc, as Iona gave me a sad face that I shared some with Ruth. I did tell her they still may come her way. Then I picked up some Kinsmen Bingo cards for Saturday's game, apparently Mississippi Jack's on Fermor still had cards today, my first time in maybe 30 years to play again!

June 27th

So for my last trip, Sylvia lent me her backpack to try out. I loved it as it was roomier than mine plus lightweight and fit carryon size. The only drawback was the large company logo on the upper pocket, oh well, it was free. So when I returned it after my trip, she said I could keep it and immediately I was thinking on how to cover the logo up. I decided to embellish a piece of lovely dragonfly fabric I had and added some batting for depth, plus gluing the inside knots for longevity. Totally love it!

"Dragonflies symbolize good fortune and prosperity, and can definitely indicate a positive experience is on its way."

"Dragonflies were given an extra set of wings so that angels could ride on their backs."

Gosh it's been that long since I made that landscape OR was it a memory then that popped up?

Well this is the latest project, covering up the law office name with some hopefully Good Luck dragonfly fabric I embroidered and beaded for my upcoming trip!

June 28th

So I'm still celebrating my birthday Saturday!!! This time was a lovely BBQ supper with Angela and Bruce. She made bruchetta, BBQd lamb roast, stuffed zucchini boats and served with her yummy potato salad. I was stuffed and could not have a second helping, my usual with her scrumptious meals! We finished off later on with graham cracker base (I think) lemon meringue pie (my favourite) and coffee! Definitely stuffed plus take home too, even with mint jelly! Her garden and patio is beautiful in daylight and in the evening too!

Thank you sweetie, for the lovely BBQ, awesome visit and Happy Birthday to you too!!!

June 29th

Today was a so-so start to my day but I still picked up Edna and off to Assiniboine Park via the Portage Ave foot bridge. That was a BIG mistake as it was like 3 blocks before I was able to sit down and in mega hip pain and shaky legs by then. The rest of the walk around the duck pond was great with three rest stops before that long walk back to Portage Ave. But a nice long refreshing rest after Edna treated us to Sargent Sundae cones. Yes a nice day for a walk, warm and breezy!

Once home I did the daily exercises and then tried what Angela suggested. Lay on a floor mat (don't have such so used three kinda rough huge bath towels I don't like), feet up and did 10 minutes ice, 10 minutes medium heat, 10 minutes ice and last 10 minutes medium heat (twice a day). That position was welcomed relief in my lower back but DANG IT TOUGH GETTING UP!!! I will try my recliner for the next session as the bed is a pain for plug ins!

Catchup - April 15th-20th

April 15th

Yeah!!! A sewing day with the girls at Sylvia's! Two with machines and two handwork!

I call these 1" hexies but someone says half inch.  All I know is they are piddly!

Edna is hand quilting!

YOWSERS!!!!!

Sylvia working on a table runner order.

Pat making placemats from dancing Inuit fabric bought in Alaska.

Here's a few more pics from today. Sylvia just about finished two table runners today but us three didn't finish our projects!

My plan, if it works!

Ready for stitching together.

I can barely hold these hexies together!

I love Pat's placemats!  I can't wait to see the left over pieces sewn together for an extra one for Sylvia!

Then off to Poké Mono for supper. YUMMY!!! I'm stuffed and tired plus a little sore, so relaxing feet up!

April 16th

Ohhh BOY!!! Wonder when I'll achieve a 3km walk in the future never mind these so wonderful longer walks we used to do!!!!!

At least I'm getting out and enjoyed a 1.5km walk, after picking up Edna and strolled amongst the geese on the Sturgeon Creek Pathway.

April 16th, at half the pace of the above memory!

April 17th

Nifty for my "chicken crazy" family and friends!!!!!

How true! But they probably have a few replacements!!!

My rental rant!!!!

Obviously other tenants don't use rinse agents in the apartmeent's washing machine!!! I time my cycles and after 55 minutes Quick Wash cycle, I'm ready to switch to the dryer of everyday tees, pjs etc are sopping wet, rinse agent still in holder, so cycle stopped on wash somewhere. So switched from Quick Wash to Normal and after the 1.25 hours cycle it was finished properly. The bulky cycle with jeans worked also. The last Normal cycle of dress tees did not work so took a chair into the laundry room and reset again on Delicate and yes it went through all cycles. But by this time (3 washes took 5.5 hours) it was 10:30 (no laundry use after 9pm) so took items and hung them up in my apartment. I'm not happy.

I've reported this twice since Christmas and was told it was fixed! Well obviously not!!! Guess my other washes worked in between as I always arrived as the final spin cycle was ending and machine shut off, unlocking!

April 19th

Today was a so-so morning so I picked up Edna for a Sturgeon Creek Pathway walk. I love this trail as it has lots of benches close together allowing for a comfortable walk for me with 5 stops and we went further too. The periodic buildup of pain in the hip was not as severe and released with rest stops. We saw this animal in the Creek, muskrat or beaver, couldn't see its tail or teeth. Lots of chewed trees along here with pussy willows bursting out too. Then this pair of Canada Geese who stayed put on the Pathway, so I carefully moved over giving them space.

Afterwards we went to Wendy's for their yummy and fast Taco Salad lunch, Edna was impressed and took some of her's home for supper!

When dropping Edna off I gave her the diamond quilt backing that I pieced together, matching the diamonds too!

GO JETS GO!!!!! ✈️✈️✈️

I got my new whiteout tee on too!

Damn I was too late to catch the beginning of the Jets fly over from my windows! Heard the ROARRRRR!!!!

Dang it's hard to watch with fans in white too!!!

Catchup - March 3rd-13th

March 3rd

Ohhhhh my three deer walked past the chicken coop single file and then a smaller one joined them! Lexi and Sam are quietly watching.

March 4th

Well guess my feeling good yesterday and walking 2.6km was not a smart idea as last night and today I'm achy! Then physio was trying too but YES it is better and she said my flexibility is better so she knows I'm doing my exercises!!! Okay so down to 1.5km for now!!!

March 5th

I finished round #1 of Halyna GailWeaver Dema doily but I don't like my thread choice. I'll continue with this but also make another with my lovely Lizbeth thread too.

Good morning! Well I did my exercises, Epsom salt bath and finally dressed and sitting on the heating pad. Not sure if this will release so iffy on even a short walk!!! The therapist said 1.5km only next week or so. That's peanuts to what I used to do. And right now I have to change my thinking on that!!!

Nope even feeling lots better, it still was not a day for a walk. But a little is better than none!!!

I knew crocs were good for something!!!

March 6th

For someone out there!!!

March 7th

Hopefully the Crew will behave while I'm out. Drove my sister to her Dr appointment and then lunch with Edna at the Wok Box. Edna says VERY GOOD. We've not been for awhile so she's in her glory, we both are. Stop at Mooks then back!!!

March 8th

The other day I finished round #1 of Halyna GailWeaver Dema doily but I don't like my thread choice. I'll continue with this but also make another with my lovely Lizbeth thread too. Today I used Lizbeth size 20 in #179, I like the tatting better but not sure about the colour.

WOW WOW WOW!!! What a beautiful day!!! I was outside on my camp chair with the Crew a good half hour, maybe more, before I called it quit and brought us in. Then I thought I'd get the same 0.9 walk in but nope, lucky if I did 0.7 (no phone, but one driveway shorter on each side) as the pain started to build up. Now on heating pad but not as bad as a few days ago.

I've finished round #2 of Halyna GailWeaver Dema pineapple doily. I'll continue with this Daisy size 20 Cream but also with my lovely Lizbeth size 20 in #179, I like the tatting better but not sure about the colour.

March 9th

GOSH I totally forgot I had done this one by hand for Dryden's Quilt Show and quilt challenge!

March 10th

OMGG!!! The CREW let me sleep through till 8am before they stirred! I checked my alarm and for some reason 7am was shut off! And no accidents!!! I've fixed that for tomorrow!!!
No snow overnight!!!

Well today will be a slow day, I'm achy and not moving fast. On the lookout where the Crew is around me just in case. But dang that wind has a bite, won't be staying out long except for Wheels!!!

It's nippy out there, even Bernese aren't staying out as usual! And the other two well what can I say!!!

March 11th

Ohhh BOY!!! I was into the city for two appointments and drop off/pick up stuff from home. Well it was a bit longer than I should have been but luckily they were good. Someone grabbed one of my shoes and boot onto the couch but luckily didn't chew it! BUT dang it I forgot to pick up two tatting shuttles for a project, oh well I'll do it when home I guess.

March 12th

Well finally Lexi got her tug a war with Sam and they played a while too. She tried convincing me a few times but NO WAY JOSE!!! They even disturbed Wheels and when Sam gave up she tried enticing him, but he just turned the other way!!!

March 13th

YIKES this morning while out with the Crew I heard a loner honking Canada Goose as it flew nearby. Even the Crew looked skyward!
Maybe we'll have an early spring or I feel for them landing on frozen ponds/lakes and snow covered fields!!!

Nifty!!! Plant shelf on front tire side too would be nice under a back side window?

This morning into the city for an appointment then home to get some tatting supplies but forgot the beads! So I started a fish pattern, E43 Fish by Manju Talekar July-Nov 2024 - derived from Endruck's 1920 Project pattern #43 reworked by Maria Grazia and Ninetta Caruso (that's a mouthfull). I completed one half, but need a bead for it's eye so on hold till I get some. I've already an idea of how it's going to be! Otherwise a quiet day!
