Day 4

Well it was coffee out with their friends at McDonalds and Sylvia's birthday present for Florence, her girlfriend, had her in tears which ricocheted and more of us ladies got teary eyed!  Nice to see when your efforts are really appreciated!  Then back home to clear some snow and back to sewing!

YEAH!!!  IT'S FINITO!!!!  FINALLY!!!
I've the "shadows" sewn on all blocks!  Next is cutting and sewing on the sand/gold (corner squares on shadows) sashing and then the mish mash piano key 2x3" border!  I truly am amazed at myself in sticking to this project and hopefully a wonderful memento for me to hopefully enjoy on my new couch in my new apartment soon!  Again thank you Jackie White and CQA for the 2019 #52blocks52weeks project!  It was awesome to see everyone's fabrics, colours and now completed tops and quilts!  👏👏👏

And nice to see their home decorated with her various quilts, needleworks, paintings etc hung up!  She painted our Gilbert Plains farmhouse which was hanging at Mom n Dad's for years.  Plus one of Mom's embroidery which she finished such during each of her eight pregnancies - we each have such framed works!

Out to Ontario!

Jan 9th

What an awesome technique when youve limited space for basting!

Jan 10th

A great day!  Got various errands done this morning before heading to Dryden for the week!  A bonus, within the Sandilands forest I saw three dark bodies moving, slowing down I see 2 adult deer in the treed medium and sure enough 3 youngsters debating on crossing to join the adults!  They better hurry as a truck was coming up fast and moved to pass me! Phew they crossed but the last one stopped on the edge as we both went by, truck way faster than me, but all were safe.  My stop at Adeline and Bill's was cute, both checked behind me looking for my travelling companions, Edna and Pat, sorry not this time!  Then as I'm heading back to the highway I'm greeted with another group of deer.  This time the youngsters behaved and followed single file, not at all like some people do! 😂

The trip through was uneventful but I'm wiped.  But already Sylvia and I have traded ideas and searched Amazon!

Jan 11th

OK here are my CQA #52blocks52weeks in order of postings, with a couple duplicates, also won't be in this order in the end.  There are two bonus blocks on Tuesday but the winds died down so perfect for outside picture taking.  Also I'll be starting to sew the shadows onto each block on Monday.  I truly have LOVED this project and can't wait to see the finished top, whenever that will be!

Now back to my sewing project!  Sylvia is cutting out commissioned table runners and will be sewing soon too across from me!  🤗

January 2020 Catch Up Cont'd

Jan 5th

ANGELS ABOUND!!!  💞💞💞  They are a little top heavy in the hand, but once hanging on the tree they are as they should be!  I'm very happy to be starting these well ahead and hopefully finish in time!

Jan 6th

Finally the 52nd weekly block is done!  Next week will be the last block post of 2 bonus ones then I can take a picture of ALL my blocks and start sewing up my shadows and plan out my layout down the road!  Thank you Jackie and CQA for this project.  I've amazed myself by keeping up to date.

And today I stitched up some 67 x 2 sizes of shadow strips for next week's stitching day at Tammy's Studio!

There's a lot in this write up that I've already started to change since I've retired, but still room for more adjustments for setting my life to my liking!  🤗

January 2020 Catch Up

New Year's Eve

Ahhhh just heard the early fireworks and rushed to my window for pictures.  So sad that this new highrise condo building sprang up on the left this year, as it totally blocked my view of the Forks fireworks!  Will see if I feel like venturing out for the late ones!

Well maybe the wind direction changed as I was able to see half of most of the show! Awesome!  Happy New Year and onto new adventures in 2020!

Jan 1st

A quiet day for me again but I did tat another angel this time with seed beads on the chain picots and also stitched up block 51 for my Canada quilt.

One more week and the 52 blocks will be finished, but they are giving two bonus blocks the 14th, so guess you'll have to wait a couple more weeks to see them all together!  I'm so excited!  This is the first time I've kept mostly up to date - now how long will it take me to assemble the quilt tops!  I also did a mock up of a commissioned quilt on the computer from the blocks posted earlier.

And finished off the night with another beaded angel that has three seed beads on each picot. This baby ate up more thread and I ran out on the last row so had to join, but it worked out!

Jan 2nd

After attending Ann Eckford's, an MPQ quilter, unexpected and so sad her celebration of life, I treated myself to a much needed car wash and new beads to work on my angels.  I'm going to play now with these and wait patiently for my friends passing on their beads too!

Jan 3rd

WOW just had like a half hour of super huge stuck together snowflakes falling (enlarge the first pic to see them)!  It was unreal and just as it started it's now stopped!  Check out the second pic with the blurry white blob bottom center - right out my window.

Hey it's back again!

Jan 4th

OMGG I just received my gift from Sylvia and Len and was I ever spoiled!  I TOTALLY fell in LOVE with this dragonfly and have double hooked it ony stitching lamp.  She got it from a craft sale and probably the same artist who did the lovely chimes I bought a couple years ago!

Along with that is a gift certificate from Dryden's The Quilting Trunk, which has way too much of my kind of fabrics within!!!  And here is the newer version of my Irridescent metallic angel. ❤❤❤

Now back to my coffee and then figuring out yardage for the RCMP quilt I've been asked to stitch up. 🤗

Boxing Day Find!

#52blocks52weeks group post:
Thank you everyone on your wonderful comments!  This wouldn't be happening if it weren't for Jackie White and CQA's project!  So thank you very very much to them also!  I'd still be wondering what to do with my stash of Canada themed fabrics.  And now after all the blocks (2 more to come yet) and the piano keys final border are finished, I just might recover my two large accent cushions with leftover 3 inch squares from this smaller accent pillow!  Will see!  👍😉😍☃️☃️☃️

My dilemma on the settings for my Canada quilt was resolved while visiting Pat this morning!  Thank you Pat for unscrambling my thoughts!  Ohhhh my gosh the ladies on the #52blocks52weeks group are so wonderful!!!!

I've two layouts I'm fretting over and today found a solution!  The main side is the blocks with shadows and sashing!

The back side or second quilt will be just 6.5 squares of Canada themed fabrics in the on point setting.

Maybe my quilter will not like me much for this idea, but this solves my settings dilemma and hopefully depleting more of my themed fabric stash!  Plus two larger accent pillow covers of 3.5" squares and possibly red cording, too many already cut out and not used for other projects! ❤❤❤

Afterwards I went shopping.  I was trying to find more Lil' Red Truck ornaments but no luck - but I scored on fabrics!!!

I have plans for accent pillows and a nifty wall hanging for myself.

Now relaxing after a video call with Barb down south, light supper and now watching Junior Hockey!  GO CANADA GO!!!

Christmas 2019

Dec 23rd

Happy Birthday Cindy!  Thank you Amy for including me!  Awesome evening at Santa Lucia's!  Walked over catching the sunset, enjoyed some wind and walked home!  Lovely evening!  Sorry I'm sure I've missed some pictures!  And my tatted angel is hanging out with Cindy now!

Just about forgot me!

And some of her gifts!

She hanging out with Cindy now!

Thank you so very much Barbara M from the UK for this lovely Lizbeth Metallic Sand Dollar bell for the latest Fringe Tatters exchange.  Yes you are right, in my opinion, that bells should be metallic!  It is awesome!  I love these exchanges!

WOW WEE!!!   Today was my mail day for sure!  First my Fringe Tatters exchange then a few friends shared a private exchange.  My friend Margaret from Cooroy Australia sent me a notebook with her own hand work cover creation and card!  Lovely, thank you Margaret!

Christmas Eve

Hope the magic of Christmas makes your spirit merry and bright.   🕯🕊
May the sights and sounds of this lovely holiday season bring lasting memories to brighten the new year ahead.  🌲☃️🎶🎉
Wishing you all warm and friendly wishes for a very Merry Christmas 🎄 and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year 🎉!
Love and Hugs, Rose Anne 🤗💞

Well I ventured out for some groceries as my plans for this week were unexpectedly changed and I'm staying put till Friday!  I found Polo Park and Safeway very quiet for a change.  I leisurely strolled through the whole two floors before stopping at the Nespresso Boutique and getting a few packages of coffee capsules to start to enjoy my new Innisia. Safeway was awesome, barely 5 minutes in line and out the door!

Once home I find more Christmas cards and another gift, honestly thought that was it for me yesterday!  First Nancy n Stefan sent me their Christmas picture and then one of Hamish for me!

Then Katie surprised me with her handmade dishcloths and a CD.  Thank you sweetie!

Now feet up and later on to enjoy my salmon dinner!

Hey I'm watching The Christmas Club movie and they just went to Baked Expectations for cocoa etc!  WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!

🎄 Christmas Day 🎄 has been quiet for me, no family, friends or pet sitting this year.  I've watched loads of movies and sewed up all the Canada blocks to bring me up to date.  Just two more weeks/blocks and this CQA BOM will be complete.  Then it's working on the shadows, sashings and borders before it can be sent to the quilter!  I truly can't believe I've kept up with this program besides a few hiccups!
