Catch Up - Nov. 11th-16th

Nov. 11th

Sheesh this world is truly going to pots with all this pussy footing on political correctness! Politicians have a lot of the blame for this on their shoulders for how our Canada is evolving into chaos!

Just look at all those NOT punished as they are CHILDREN but allowed to trash others personal property, innocent individuals out and about getting beat up and lastly those free for alls robbing liquor marts recently.  If you're GROWN enough to do the crime then you're GROWN enough to have your face posted everywhere and accepting the penalty - not protected so they can continue unimpeded!!!!

Disgusted with Don's firing for speaking the truth!  The network should be ashamed of their decision! 😖

And then there was another post from Kirsten Gjerde also standing with Don Cherry.

Nov. 12th

YEAH!!!!! Finally at BP with Barb!!!

Hmmmmmm wonder if I still have mine!

Nov. 13th

My friend Mary, also an ex-coworker, donates her time, talent and yarns to make mitts and hats for those in need!  I thought that was a lovely idea so donated some of my yarns and Pat, my niece, gave me some of her's too to pass along!

The above ones are from Pat, the brown tweed from me.

Others she's made recently.

Today I handed in my three men's shirts quilt tops to the ABC program at MPQ Guild meeting!  It was a very good feeling to have completed them and now onto someone else to to finish them into quilts.

Nov. 14th

Finally I've completed my orders for tatted snowflakes, washed them and tomorrow I'll starch them and hopefully Monday into the mail and packaged for gift giving!  Center one has an angel (Large Crystal Snowflake by Vida Sunderman) with crystals and another has blue glass beads while the rest have clear glass beads (all Tatted Ice Snowflake - Be-Stitched.com).  AND one somehow got soiled and no matter what I used the stain would not come out so guess that one is mine!!!  I started these in August and still couldn't get them completed for October as I'd hoped to do!

Nov. 15th

Okay my snowflakes are all starched and blocked!  Let's hope that once is enough this time around, if not I'll have to brush more stiffener on like last time.  I would LOVE to do this process only once.  These are the two I've used and Stiffy today!

Nov. 16th

Well today was the Mystery Applique Block of the Month companion Applique Workshop at MPQ!   Boy was I ever glad to sign up for this! There were six different types of applique shown but I only focused on two that I've not done at all or very poorly.  Sorry no pictures as yet as I was busy stitching.

I concentrated on Back Basted Applique which I've not tried before and will set aside my love of needle turn applique for this method - it's so accurate and an easy take with you project.

The second was Invisible Machine Applique - this one was all prepped in class even if I didn't have all the "tools" and I'm hoping to finish the machine work as easily as the prepping went!

Yes I'm very happy Marion, Tracy and Inez were our amazing very knowledgeable teachers!  NOW I can start my blocks once I decide on my fabric background!  Maybe a good cream muslin?  I know I'm going to work with my box of batik pieces for the appliques.

Hmmmm I've been noticing myself doing this lately and now am going to see if these exercises will help!

Beginning August Catch Up

Aug 2nd

All's quiet here! But this was the first time they weren't glued to me in the basement TV room. Guess they're ticked at being left behind and not at the cottage fishing too!

Aug 3rd

Myyyy but it's quiet here without Wheeler and Griffin! Just stopping in to feed Jake, who has the whole floor to stretch and play on to himself!

OK I have to share this as I think it's awesome. Found it on Proutopia - the Flock.

Aug 4th

Dang it's already too warm for my liking to have breakfast outside! UGH!!!!

The other day I stopped at Pat's to show them my car and Amanda and Astro showed up.   So had a brief change from pet sitting.

Today while checking the game is on I'm trying to learn tatted Interlocking Rings by Karen Bovard and think I did not bad the first time!

YUMMY!!!!!  All my favourites together, but a little heavy on the seasoning today!  Salmon, brussel sprouts, yams, mushrooms and onions! Ohhh and the dogs ate their supper too!

Aug 6th

Ohhhh I've missed the Forks lots and glad I ventured here last month and found the Common and also these comfy chairs.  So relaxing with my iced coffee and reading in the breeze!

Aug 7th

Ooooohhhhhhh back to breakfasts on the balcony - heavenly!  Now just to get rid of this week's persistent pain in my ankle and sciatic and I'd be a happy camper!

I was given some fabric by Angela's Mom and passed some onto Aunt Monica's Attic for costume and bag making.  Well she got creative and hung one particular canvas type fabric as a backdrop!  WOW! WOW! WOW!

What a lovely day to walk around the Forks with Edna!   Well so did most everyone else too!  We casually walked 7 kms in 1.5 hrs totaling 11,047 steps.  Then we bought ice creams and sat on those comfy blue chairs checking out people, dogs and the water birds, enjoying the beautiful day!  I was so happy and content that when it was time to go home, just got up to walk away - NOPE NADA NO SIREE - my right ankle shot pain inside and I just about face planted!  It took some time but finally able to walk back to the condo.  Hours later it's still being miserable that I'll have to tomorrow tell the therapist and maybe get it xrayed.  Maybe there's a small bone chipped etc??? 😟

Okay no broken bones and no xray, just manipulated it without pain until she stroked the muscle/tendon from knee to ankle and I jerked and mentioned slight pain in the ankle right away.  Overstressed trying to do all exercises and now paying the price.  She teased me that I was the first patient she's told to back off on my exercise diligence!  So a couple are no go till this ankle strengthens! UGH!!!

Aug 8th

Anyone need puzzles for all ages?  I sure can vouch for the huge variety, especially if a new shipment arrives.  Which I think has or will shortly, right Monica?

Aug 9th

I was undecided which fabrics to use but glad I switched the light for dark and used these aboriginal or indigenous type fabrics.  Now I'm caught up again.

July Ending

July 27th

The benefits of waiting for a bus!

OK I'm nervous as heck (a cold sore too boot), but also happy too as this was the first time "I" shopped for a car and was loaded for bear with Wpg adds, my wants and $ range I was willing to go!  Needless to say my expectations were kinda met, my thoughts of shopping around blown out the window and my comfort level met, even though it is a "2013" which I was not going to look at and slightly more than I hoped for!!!!!  So thank you to Rob at Urban Garage for sending me to Winnipeg Honda and to Janice for taking me there today!  If all goes well on my taking the vehicle to my garage for a pre purchase inspection on Monday with Angela's ride, I just may have my newest vehicle ever!

July 28th

Thanks Karen for sharing!

More recent photo.

July 29th

Talk about another jam packed day!  First off Angela picked me up so I could take my car over to Urban Garage for a look over, it passed. Then back to Wpg Honda for them to safety it before I get it on Wednesday.  Just got home and Linda picked me up to go to Barb's to sew port pillows for orders she's gotten.  Then off to a fellow needleworker/quilter's estate sale for a few goodies.  The bummer to the day is breaking off the arm on my glasses, my appointment is in September - anyone have gorilla glue?  Then we split up, Kim gave me a ride to finally visit Darlene who also wanted to check out the sale so off we went, then she gave me a ride home.  I finished the day off walking to the library to return a book.  PHEW!

July 30th

What a lovely day!  Again a stop at the library on the way to the Forks for a gyro and iced coffee lunch, reading under the tree near the water!  ☕😎 It's too bad I ran out of battery power as the grown goslings on the river were trying to fly.  It was neat seeing them just about to lift off then crash back down.  The frustrated honking was softer than grown ups but brought chuckles from me and those nearby! 🤗

Another week's blocks has gone by - it's now into the latter half of the program!  Enjoyed this one, nice and easy and good for fussy cutting too!  Hmmmm, lots of fabric with holes willy nilly!   🤣  That's OK as I'll be doing a piano key type outer border to use up whatever fabrics are left over!  😍 #52blocks52weeks

July 31st

Where did Wednesday go???   Took a bit but did go by bus to pick up my car, then the fun began!!!  Stopped for some groceries, dropped them off at home, picked up items before heading out again.  First NE to Darlene to drop off some silk ribbon and show off my car, then to Barb's to use her Gorilla glue on my busted glasses before heading NW across to get Edna and supper at the Wok Box and finish off SW end to show Angela my car, get my pictures and relax a bit!  Edna loves her garden n flowers and I got to pick more beet leaves for some more beet leaf buns!!!!  Thank you my dear friends!  Exhausting but happy day!

Crazy clouds!

Catchup June 16th - 17th

June 16th

An awesome jam packed day for me and it could have been more too!  First off to Angela's before noon to drop off some of my mini quilts for a project/event her Mom is part of in Teulon and have a coffee with her!

Then off to Diane's Celebration of Life at Khartum Shriners Hall and enjoy seeing her many beautiful quilts on display along with the stories of a spunky lady!  A life snatched from her family and friends WAY too soon!  Even met a couple of camera club members, including Jack, from years past, before my meeting Diane.

Afterwards I headed to Chief Pequis to join friends sewing up cancer port pillows!  Thank you Barb for having us over to help you out.  Chores go fast when shared with friends!  Also thank you Dianne for the bags of fabrics which I'm sure Monica of #AuntMonicasAttic will be very pleased to receive.  Then Barb, Kim and I went to BP for supper.  Once home I got an invite from Monica to drop by tonight, but I was already vegging out and didn't feel like going out again!  😊  Another time!

Another party dress by Monica and some fabrics from me again! I'm so happy to purge some excess fancies and help increase her birthday party dresses!

June 17th

Yeppers I'm so excited I can zip to the moon and back on my energy!!!!!! ☄🌝🌞 See I had registered to go to Cambridge ON for the Fringe Element Tatters group Tat Days - my first one! Then I found a roommate to split the hotel costs - that's book too! Then today I booked my return Airmiles flight online by myself (nervous as heck) and have printed off my receipt too! So I'm at a conference, visiting my girlfriend and her family maybe and hopefully connecting with some quilters out east too! Might even see some fall leaves??? OHHH GOD!!! I'm going to be sick now with relief that that's all done. I'm going out for a walk now to calm down!

After our 8 km walk around Assiniboine Park we're enjoying our coffee, chai latte and shared applejack!  I'm pooped and finally calmed down!

We got back to the car and near Polo Park before the Heavens opened up to heavy rains.  So much so that the towers of downtown were just about lost in the greyness in the distance.

Then headed back to Angela's to pick up more fabrics from her Mom who is purging too, for Monica's party dresses and Barb's Cancer port pillows.  Now home relaxing with my last Radler grapefruit!

Yeppers this is me! But gotta chsnge soon?
