Catch Up At Katsu's

Feb 2nd

Hmmmm I thought I brought all I needed to finish off the gold tone angel but nope so could only finish off the Irridescent one, but that's the one I need this next week.  Now this one I tried a different neck option and like it bestest! Also never thought of displaying it on a mirror, thank you Joan n Harold for the heads up with your snowflake!

Finally he's come to sit with me but not for long as he spotted his piggy and off he went on his crazy racing!

Feb 4th

Had a few errands to run this brisk day and so thankful the sun is shining!!!  First stop was to Iona's and talk about a really cute wire yard ornament!

Then got my computers back from my techie, soon back to sorting my Auzzie/NZ pics that he found for me!  Quick stop to see Pat and then back to Katsu who had a ball racing around me and cracking twigs in the back yard!  I always wondered why there were so many small pieces to gather up!  Found out REAL fast today when I picked up a longer branch on the path JUST to have it snatched from me and promptly snapped into pieces!  Even too fast for a decent pic!!!!  😬 🤣🤣🤣

Now warming up with a carmel creamer Nespresso before sewing!

Yummy!!!!  My go to meal - baked salmon, yams and brussel sprouts n garlic!  Glass of wine tonight!

WOW!

OMGG!!!  I can't believe it's two years since I was gifted this baby!  It sits proudly in my living room, I ordered a couple of spool holders as I seemed to have lost it's in the move AND I've yet to sit down to sew on her! ONE of these days I will.  BUT I've decided she needs an antique like dust cover made from my collected RR crazy quilted blocks.

IT'S AN AWESOME WINTER DAY OUT THERE TODAY!!!!

I had to convince Katsu to go out, me definitely over dressed after a couple blocks walking, ohhh wellll!  I was thinking here's me in black boots n red parka and Katsu red booties n black coat and how I wanted a picture.  OHHH the stars aligned and soon a young lady was walking towards us and kindly agreed to take one for us!

But I truly should have put a stop to his wandering route earlier and turned him homeward, against his desire!  WELL both of us afterwards are too exhausted, even for his piggy chase!  Will have to turn him home sooner for both of us!

Feb 6th

Yeah Pat and I are going to this game huge thank yous to Florence and Wayne!

Feb 7th

OMGG on mornings like this I wish I didn't have to go for a walk!  At least the wind calmed down and I know Katsu won't want to stay out long!  Last night was only 2 km in total to do his business and back home.  Maybe this morning too!  Then a sewing day!

Actually it was OKAY for our short walk as assumed!  He was quick, did his business, turned and home in 2 km!  If it wasn't so tough to breath, I'd not have noticed the cold!  AND it warmed up in the afternoon.

Finally, while listening to two of Fern Michaels audiobooks, and after a week of piecing I've completed the wall hanging top even if it had it's issues.  See I MISCOUNTED TWICE the number of 1" sized HSTs and squares needed!!!  Actual count:
36 rows x 2/row = 72 - 1" black squares
36 rows x 4/row = 144 - 1" HSTs
They finished off to 1/2"!
UGH! UGH! UGH!

I pray the maple leaf FMQing goes lots easier and faster than the piecing did!!!

Then I worked on a postcard, one day destined for CUBA!  That's still a work in progress.

After this I'm spending the evening relaxing!

My Tree of Life - ASL presentation

Okay the only way I could upload my video taped ASL presentation was to go through YouTube (checked Private there) so hopefully it will now upload here in my BLOG for my friends to check out (7 min 18 sec duration). Here is my video:

For those of you who are new to ASL maybe you'll get a kick out of how nervous I was and this was not memorized, I only had three run throughs - two with notes and signs and one from the notes only. And those that do sign I hope I didn't botch it too badly and I promise I am going to try and continue to use it daily with John. Enjoy!

ASL "Tree of Life" Presentation

I can tell you that I survived my ASL Tree of Life presentation (video clip is 7 min 17 sec) today, but just barely. Actually at one point I saw black dots in my eyes so I closed them and took a deep breath and slowly exhaled and heard in the background my Manager saying I was doing good just breath deeply! LOL! It seemed forever but on the video just seconds and then I finished off!!! A few co-workers were a might concerned as they thought I was going to have an attack or something. SHEESH!!!

After an intensive 12 week-3 hours/week of day-to-day-type sign language training we had a presentation to do basically our own "Tree of Life" - to sign - no talking. Well I prepared it and took my camera to work and asked Mike to video tape my presentation - it was great but talk about what a nervous person I was - even before it was my turn!!! In the end I'm glad I did it my way even if it was a might trying!

Prejitters!!!

Left to right:
Lorne, our division's Assistant Deputy Minister, Sylvia our Instructor, John our deaf co-worker, and Margot our Director - after the Thank You speeches and flowers (made by co-worker Terri) were presented to Sylvia.

Okay this is my first time to upload a video clip and it didn't work!!! Why I don't know - maybe too large? Too bad as I was told by Sylvia and John that I did good! Maybe I'll get it uploaded another time.

A New Language for ME???

What a day!!! It started off getting soaked to the skin walking to work in the pouring cold rain, a 9:30 Branch meeting and carried through just about to 11:00 when our 3-hr ASL (American Sign Language) training session starts (so we can communicate better with John our deaf co-worker). It was a rush to replenish the coffee and bathroom break plus wolf down half my sandwich before heading back into the meeting room.

Well we started off with the “interpreters” for the introductions then they LEFT accompanied by my gasps and it was “zip the mouth” and no talking for three hours unless on the one break, but there was a bit of it near the end when we were rehashing things – brain dead by then!!! THAT was CRUEL to me, but I survived, even though my heart was a racing and a couple of times I think I was on the brink of hyperventilating but took a few deep breaths and settled down. Sylvia, our teacher who is deaf, did promise us that we would learn and by golly she was right, we learnt lots, have sign spelling for homework and we have the Post It notes of words up in our office for rehashing sessions with John as our “work teacher”. I can tell you that by the last half hour, that my brain was fried and I could not remember the “symbols” for certain words that she taught us. DUH! I sure hope I don’t forget it all. I KNOW I don’t want to sign spell my requests out - easier with symbols for words or phrases!!!

Okay so we were back just after 2:00 and I wolfed down the other half of my sandwich and then back to work.

Then on the way home I again got soaked to the skin in the pouring cold rain, but it eased up some before going out to my evening meeting, but DANG chilly!!!

It's been forecast to snow just to the northeast of us and towards my sister Kenora ON way!!!
