Catchup - Sept 25th- Oct 1st

Sept 25th

I love September as my groups started up and this morning was Nothern Lights Lacemakers gathering. Then lunch with Edna at A&W before picking up Sylvia for a "rida" as my Dad used to call road trips. So off to a fabric destash in Dugald, really took a rida as Dugald Rd East was closed to the perimeter and I missed the south detour and had to take the longer north detour! But we got there and I did MAJOR damage, scored two packages of 1930s scraps too. Then I asked Sylvia if there was somewhere she wanted to check out, not really! So I asked them what about OMA's, they smiled and said sure! So I called first and off we went and no only picked up more fabric an batting plus exchanged for her bills our change and got her out of the HOT garden. We all were happy!!!

This month's PFA swap theme is "crazy background". Well I just happened to have a few from Y E A R S back and decided to use one, dressing it up some. I love how it turned out.

Sept 27th

It'll be here sooner than you think! If interested please mark your calendar! 🤞

Well yesterday I had a handsewing session and Boston Pizza lunch with the girls and came home with some of Barb's scrappy destash too!

Sept 28th

Then today I picked up Edna from Polo Park and then Sylvia and off to the St Vital Book Sale, all were lucky in our searches. I found a number of quilting books but totally FORGOT to look for tatting ones! Dang it!!!
Then off to Georges for yummy lunch before a brief but not so fortunate Mook's shopping! Edna did get some plain blue for her quilt binding, she'll maybe work on it at OMA's retreat in a couple weeks. I'm pooped, relaxing with feet up!

Sept 29th

Oooohhhhhh I was so excited a couple months ago when Monica showed me this catalogue puzzle as the ones she'd ordered were sold right away. So mine came in and I picked it up before she'd sell it on me!!! Yes the puzzle pieces come in this tin shaped machine storage box! I'd taken it for show n tell with my Scrappy Triangles quilt and next I hear she'd sold the other two and will be ordering more but not sure when!
A very interesting crafty and educational type toy store for small and big kids!!!

Sept 30th

Talk about a win win situation! See Florence brings me and family/friends here some of their excess garden harvest. Then the other day she asked me to sew her a couple microwaveable potatoe bags like her's that have worn out! So I said yes, as that's the least I can do in exchange!

Well I downloaded the free pattern from Apple Green Cottage, stopped at Fabricland for the Wrap n Zap batting, pulled out my cotton fabrics and thread yesterday and proceeded to cut out a couple for her. When I realized I'd only get 6 out of that piece of batting, I decided she has extras to replace those 'wear and tear' ones in future! Yes she bakes potatoes often!

So this morning I sewed them up and have decided idea I won't be making anymore as my machine DOES NOT like that thickness. Hope I've not wrecked my just serviced work on it!

Oct 1st

Boy I can sure say I'm looking forward to next week's quilting retreat!!! You know the saying "things happen in threes!" Well this has happened for my family and friend! So please send healing prayers for them as I'm not sure mine are enough!!! 🙏💞🙏💞🙏💞 Thank you!!!

Quiet Family Time

Aug 28th

A quiet day, helping Sylvia and off to visit my friends!

Sylvia needed help stretching her newest fabric art wall hanging and even got my finger pinched in the knot too! And also her finished shopping tote she started at Cliff Lake.

Ahhhh these two had a grooming and looking so cute for me!!!

Aug 29th

Ooooohhhhh I needed this family relaxing day. Thank you Debbie for contacting me and asking that Sylvia and I come visit Marlene with you both!

So it started off with these awesome plants at Sylvia's, puzzle setting and Quirkle with them too while chatting! Just about finished it too!

Then back here with my friends! Guess the crisp fresh air or posing tuckered them out?

Aug 30th

Yeah the Shaw Tech who came first on Saturday, with the no record box, arrived today and installed the new 6 show record box in 15 minutes! YEAH YEAH YEAH!!! I've finally got TV!!!

Catchups Story

Okay I'm going to try for shorter posts as some of my friends aren't getting my emails.  They are not in SPAM or JUNK but maybe too lengthy with pictures for their Inbox.  So will try to shorten and more often posting.  Since I'm a month behind for various reasons I'm hoping this week to catch up!

Catchup - July 13th-18th

July 13th

Okay I loosened my tension and tatted a slightly bigger and easier joins of #41 of Four Dozen Tatted Snowflakes by Robin Perfetti snowflake with my choice to add beads to picots. I'm sure it'll be better with each one completed this next month.

Left is first as per pattern.  Middle is my adding beads but yet smaller than the first one.  Right is more relaxed tension and loads easier with slightly bigger joining picots.  Yes a lovely snowflake for sure!

OMGG something is brewing Winnipeg South!!!

South of the house.

North of the house over Winnipeg.

Over the house between.

Sort of east looking to southern half of Winnipeg.

July 14th

OMGG THOSE BANGERS WERE TOO DAMN CLOSE!!! It lit up the house then promptly shook it!!! We three huddled for half hour till the worst passed over. Trees still standing. Now steady rain. YOWSERS!!!

It was nice out on the deck earlier but the dogs were antsy so in for lunch and more tatting. Now they are zonked out beside me on the couch!

I guess they are telling me it's supper time and I should step on it???? 🤣🤣🤣

July 15th

Ahhhh come on now! Please whomever is in charge, please turn off the water taps!!! I love the cooler temps but these clouds coming after a night of rain is enough already!!!

Hmmm after changing their pool water, which was doubled the amount after all the rain since last fill was tough to empty. Then half hour later winds picking up and temp dropped too but it says 18C now, I don't believe that.

They love this area but I'm not venturing out to see what's there.

She's so cute in the flowers!

Went chasing after something that slunk through the fence into the yard, I'm hoping only the neighbour's cat.

July 17th

OMGG!!! Today I finally was able to connect my Google maps with my hands free through the car system!!! What like 6 years now and a gazillion attempts, even Byran, phone whiz, tried a few years back and no dice! Today it just worked first try!!! DAH!!!

So I dropped Edna off at home near Sturgeon Road on Portage Ave and in my contacts clicked on Taunya's address. It showed around the Perimeter or cross country via Charleswood which said 15 minutes. Yeah right, it 4pm! Well 20 minutes later and very little traffic I pulled into her driveway! WOW!!! Impressed!!!

I pray this phone, Google maps and my car are in sync in future when needed again!!!!!! 😍

July 18th

I'm very sorry to have lost a dear friend recently! I knew you weren't feeling your usual self as you weren't walking your daily 10 or more kms! Definitely I'll miss our occasional walks in Kildonan Park or Place depending on the weather and seasons with Edna and sometimes Michelle, also our Tim's coffee and phone chats, OHHH and the bingo games with Mary and sometimes Adrian from work too! I was surprised but yet happy to hear you were planning to marry Halyna, so glad you had this happiness again! 💞 "Rest in Peace"

It's soooo lovely having breakfast on the deck and soon I'll break out my tatting too! It's not really hot and the breeze is lovely. The dogs have enjoyed early pool dips too! Usually Princess doesn't like getting wet, guess she's getting used to the water logged yard, so may as well enjoy the pool too? I'm thinking if it continues to rain they'll be growing webbed paws or I might have to find them rubber boots??? BUT it's a clear beautiful blue sky and no clouds day!!!

Sheeeesh! Not sure what happened but there was a very very loud bang from behind the neighbour's on the highway. Scared the HELL out of me. The dogs even jumped and were barking! BUT no sirens!
Hey this is the second time Bubba's been in and the most aggressive splashing! Love seeing them play in it!

Okay this is an interesting day! The morning was spent on the deck with the dogs, then lunch inside. I then dressed against mosquitoes and my winter felted rubber boots and ventured out to try and dig the remaining 6 foot channel to the ditch. The neighbour Steve drove over on his riding mower (sorry he couldn't help me out as he hurt his back hauling rock around his firepit yesterday) but said I was getting it moving. Taunya had opened up most of the water logged area and hopefully I've done the rest. The water started moving right away but I needed to rest and water so didn't stick around. I'll check tomorrow and see what else needs to be done! This is two pictures joined to show the water build-up.

Catchup - Dec 2nd-8th

Dec 2nd

Thank you Angela for picking me and my items up for the CP Holiday Train this evening. It was lovely pleasant weather for this event and nice to be singing carols outdoor. I'm thinking maybe donating monies next time but glad I took the walker to haul my box to the Food Bank's truck AND for the walk back to the truck, I was drained. Now relaxing with feet up before bed. 🎄🎶 🤗

Incoming!

Two pics sandwiched together.

The stage came down.

Angela and I!!!

I just loved these balloons with lights that someone was selling, various shapes and sizes.

Angela was totally grooving and singing along!

They are moving on now!

Bye Bye!!!

Dec 3rd

Today was family ornament making day at Pat's. Lovely gathering! Some ornaments aren't finished as yet so will have to wait for the collage. Here is the veggie tray that Pat made especially for her grandson to get a kick out of the train display and then we kinda wrecked it.

And here is my newest ornament!

Dec 4th

WOW!!! I've had a busy day, did all my online charitable donations then all my Christmas cards too. Then the list of all my events this month on paper so I can glance quickly, what's next!!! Now I'm feet up, thinking of supper and then Jets hockey later! 🙃

Dec 5th

Finally after a few days these two are being playful in front of me!

Boston the oldest.

Yogi the youngest.

Dec 6th

Hmmmm a stand off and then some swats?

A huge thank you to Edna Bennett for today's tour of The Leaf!!! My first time and next time I'll dress for spring like conditions!!!
Jo the bottlebrushes are so tiny compared to New Zealand's!

This was the second butterfly only that I saw here!  A shame compared to Amsterdam and Stratford-upon-Avon butterfly gardens.

Dec 7th

And talk about a HUGE WOW when Adele combed my hair on the other side and talk about a different colour look! Thank you!

My usual look and it's lighter!

Resting together!!! AAAAHHHH!!!!!

Dec 8th

So here are the ornaments (Amanda and Astro's not finished yet) from last Saturday's family ornament making. A fun afternoon!

Today Pat was off work at noon then she, Sylvia, Edna and I had lunch at Stella's on Pembina. After that we again went over to Pat's for more ornament making. This time Sylvia and Pat haven't finished off their ornaments (pics to come soon). Here are Edna's gnome and my Snowman Heart.
